"when i was a little man
playdough came in a little can
i was star wars biggest fan
now im stuck without a plan!
gi joe was an action man
shaggy drove the mystery van
devo was my favorite band
take me back to my happy land!"

"Three songs. And we re-recorded one. They wanted 'Through Being Cool' for some reason, which is kind of odd because its all synth solos, so we re-recorded it. My brother Bob, who's our guitar player, played all my synth solos, synth leads, as guitar leads, so it would relate to the game better, and then we recorded one of those little crazy endings that they put on it."

This is awesome! Re-recorded so the synth is on guitar! Sub-Genius support for Rock Band! Long Live Bob Dobbs! Pass the Fop!

It's obvious that "Whip It" has to be one of them.

I really hope that they wouldn't put out a Devo pack without "Whip It"... That would be so sad.

I was thinking the same thing. My guess would be:

We're Through Being Cool
Whip It
(I Can't Get) No Satisfaction

Jocko **** is possible though: ARE WE NOT MEN?!

awesome, this means hmx is asking artists to rerecord old songs instead of making covers

I agree. This is a pretty important note to make here.

Anything off their first album is must-have
I'd pee myself if I got Mongoloid or Gut Feeling or Uncontrollable Urge.

I could pass (but I won't) on Whip It or Satisfaction.

I don't even know Through Being Cool...

This is so COOL!!!!!

Personally, I'd like "Working in a Coalmine" or "It's a Beautiful World".

I actually know "Through Being Cool".

It's obvious that "Whip It" has to be one of them.

You know, I would agree except for HMX's track-record. They often pick really good bands, and then go out of their way to pick obscure songs and avoid the one song everybody wants. There are a few exceptions, but I wouldn't just assume they'll pick the obvious choices.

Since there are more than 1 track by the band, I would expect Whip It to be one.

If you look at the past, you can see that although many obscure songs were picked, it was after at least well-known song was in, or a well-known song was coming.

I would expect Whip It. I don't really remember any other big hit Devo songs, so it'll probably be that with the other confirmed song and something slightly obscure.

Hmm interesting, wasn't "(I Can't Get) No Satisfaction" one of the songs listed in that DLC file extracted from one of the song packs? I always assumed it was the Rolling Stones' song.

I feel the opposite. Whip It does NOT represent the Devo sound very well. I would vote for Gates of Steel, Smart Patrol/Mr DNA, and Freedom of Choice. Maybe Girl You Want, Jacko ****, or Mongoloid. But Through Being Cool? Once again HMX chooses one of their more obscure and not so good songs, ala the Bowie pack. They REQUESTED Through Being Cool. Go figure. They probably REQUESTED Queen ***** over, oh, I don't know, I'm Afraid of Americans. You know, one of his BEST songs. :-P

the David Bowie pack disagrees with you. The Nine Inch Nails pack also is suspect.

The original recording of Queen ***** is not so bad, but the cover is awful. There are probably masters available for I'm Afraid of Americans.

This news gives me more DLC to look forward to. I have been hoping for Devo since RB was released.

By Guess/Picks for a pack would be
Through Being Cool
Whip It
Girl U Want

Working in a Coolmine is a possible replacement for Girl U Want, but I would rather Girl U Want (It makes me think of Tank Girl which for some reason I really enjoyed)

It's nice to see some fellow spuds in this thread. I honestly expected the thread to quickly devolve into a "waah HMX releasing more obscure sh*t plz release moar Metallica" rant, but I was pleasantly surprised, and even more thrilled to hear that the boys from Akron re-recorded one of my favorite Devo songs to make it playable in RB's format. I'd love to see any of the following songs make it into the pack:

Smart Patrol / Mr. DNA (there is a reason why it is my sig)
Post Post-Modern Man
Uncontrollable Urge
Girl U Want
Mongoloid
Gut Feeling/Slap Your Mammy (the most likely choice)
Watch Us Work It (another likely choice)

Unfortunately, very few of Devo's songs after their first album have any bass guitar parts, so I have a feeling the pack will probably include one song from the debut and Watch Us Work It.

Good thing GH4 is right around the corner.

Yes because GH has been so good at putting out tons of mainstream DLC.

Seriously HMX is doing a great job with DLC, even though I haven't felt like purchasing it all. HMX has released a full range of music from classic rock to modern rock, including classic metal, modern metal and even new wave.

If you don't like variety then I'm guessing that Rock Band is not the game for you. If you like to play the same 60 songs over and over and over again then you would probably do well to stick with GH.

God I hope one of those three songs is Gates of Steel.
Girl U Want is good too

I really hope this isnt HMX's answer to GH:Aerosmith or GH4,if so the future looks very bleek.

Don't you have a bridge to go back under?

GH doesn't really do DLC... they don't understand it, preferring to focus all their energies on retail product. DLC allows us greater control over what we want in the game, and can keep it continually fresh. I don't see what the concern is.

Damn, I hope its the Rolling Stones one. They had Brown Sugar on that list too. It would be sad if it wasn't.

That being said, when I first read the title and watched the video, then watched "Through Being Cool", I was like who the hell is Devo? Then someone said Whip it and it was a big OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH.... lol.

So I listened to some of their other stuff and I'm not excited. If Whip it is one of the tracks I'll buy that one though.

My drummer's favorite bands are Ween and Devo, so I'm ok with this announcement although I've never listened to Devo that much.

Oooh...Gut Feeling would be awesome and somewhat obvious. Pair it with Slap Your Mammy and it's pure-ass win. Uncontrollable Urge or Jocko **** would be amazing as well.

And I'd absolutely love to sing Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA. I'd fear that the sexual subtext is not subtle enough, between "we shove the poles in the holes" and the whole "He's an altruistic pervert/Mr. DNA/Mr. Kamikaze/Here to spread some genes" section. But then I remember how rapetastic Sex Type Thing was, and it seems possible!

Through Being Cool is decent enough, but....yeah, it's just decent enough. Not as thrilling as the idea of seeing more Devo in Rock Band.
