I decided to paint the pick guard on my Strat Controller, to closer match my Real Strat.

Pick guard was spray painted Black, and the beveled edge was done in Metallic Silver:

I know nothing of guitars, so excuse me as I butcher some terms; I like how you added the dots on the fret board too, that's a nice touch!

How would I go about putting a lighter color (red) over the black base? Prime then paint?

this one's really just the faceplate, but it's textured like a basketball and is super high glossed. it's called the Bass-ketball.

hey karmajack, how did you keep the "Fender Stratocaster" logo on the head? that must have taken some detailed painting

Sorry I don't have an actual pic of mine yet, but I have this one (http://ghskinz.com/inc/sdetail/774) from ghskinz.com on my wireless Strat. Not sure yet what I want to do (if anything) to my wired Strat.

Karma, love the design. Freakin' sweet man!

I ordered a skin from iStyles.
I have my eye on a Raining Blood skin on eBay I may get for my other Xplorer.

Nice Guitars everyone, there are some very cool looking ones.

I just kept my strat simple, in case I need to RMA it.

You guys have amazing customs. Karma has to let me know how he was able to keep the Fender logo on his strat.

Quick question

Does customizing your guitar void your warranty?

if it's just a skin or sticker, then likely no. you could just peel it off.

if you're talking about painting the case, then it's iffy. i'm not sure how they would react to having a painted guitar get returned for a replacement, heh.

if you're going to take it right apart and tinker with the guts, then yes. but that's the most fun!

Yep. I didn't do the greatest job but it worked out pretty well. i have more images here, and sorry about the ginormous size of the images. I haven't had time to resize them yet, but I will... promise...

hey headhunter, any complaints about the ghskinz skin?

I can't complain. It's a great skin - Matt added it to the line because I suggested it, originally I was just looking for one for my own guitar.

It takes some patience to apply - it took me quite a while of applying soapy water, sliding the skin around to meet the curves and drying it into place - but the results are worth it.

Slickskinz (http://www.slickskinz.com/) also makes some fantastic skins for GH guitars, and Ann mentioned that they will be adding Strat skins soon.
