I'm pretty sure that whole fret board thing is pretty solid hinting at the rumored sixth fret. Good way to keep offering peripherals RedOctane! Way to milk the Gibson!
Linky of haven't linked in a while (http://www.gametab.com/news/1064424/)

Yeah, as soon as the detachable neck was annouced I smelled additional fret or solo buttons of some kind.
The whole "storage" reasoning is just garbage... I have yet to hear anyone legitimately say "man, this SG controller is just too massive for me to carry around".

Perhaps you can buy additional necks that have certain designs? Like fretboard inlays.

Some LED illuminated buttons or something would be sick!

that thing looked tiny its unbelievable. also about the storage being garbage. i understand what the dude meant though cuz i was gonna take guitar hero to school and the damn neck was popping out of my backpack, so the removable neck is somewhat useful in that sense

I was reading the comments about it being tiny, but didn't really think that much of it. Now that I watched the video, it looks like a ukulele

A fisher price toy? wtf...go home dude, its a video game...
That thing is tiny...but whatever, Im going to accept whats given to me. At least its heavier than the Xplorer. I can smell a faceplate kit just like those 360 faceplate kids from Nyko.

**** DUDE! THATS AWESOME!
Hmx have been beaten. Amazing. Neversoft aren't so bad after all.
The fretboard I think will lead to a keyboard fretboard as well.
I don't care about the controller looking a strat. I love the GH3 one a little more, though I admit I probably won't get either.
They could even make a drum kit which was connected via the fretboard...

Meh, I'll take my Strat and X-Plorer over that anyday.
Among other things they aren't assmole ugly. Especially the attempt to streamline the frets (fail).
I myself never had storage/transporting issues.

With looking at the size of the guitar, I notice one thing.
Ukulele Hero is very possible!!

Anything has to be better than the X-plorer, that thing is horrible.... and everyone who's used the Les Paul has said it's the best controller they've used yet so I'm not worried at all

First of all i will say that i am used to the SG , now the Xplorer took sometime to get used to it was somewhat uncomfortable and the Strum bar was too clicky and i was not used to the small neck but i really want to try out the Strat.

never played gh1 so the xplorer was fine for me

I hate the xplorer, the SG is way better in my opinion...but today i got a chance to use the Les Paul and it is by far the best that Red Octane has put out, although i still prefer the Strat because of the size...and unlike most i like the buttons that are inset...

What he said. Either way, by the end of November I'll have an SG, X-plorer, Les Paul and Stratocaster (oh.. and drums and two mics).
My wife is less than pleased.

I find it funny that they're claiming the SG looked like a 'fisher price toy', but the LP doesn't. Apparently nobody let them know the Strat doesn't have big colored buttons...
Honestly, I think the LP would be a solid guitar, but RO seems to be slowly becoming more evil. First they made really good 3rd-party DDR dance pads (got one for my sis and it's AMAZING!), then they made the SG. At that point they tried to corner the market and prevent 3rd-party guitars (WTF, didn't they used to do that?). Now it looks like they're going to feature creep the thing so you need to get a new guitar each time. How far the mighty have fallen...

I dun get it. The strat looks amazing, but its not even the colored buttons that bother me at least...its the Les Paul's size, that thing is tiny. They could have at least made it the same size as the Xplorer. At least the strat is going to be much bigger in size...

I'd say the LP is basically the same as the SG, just with the removable neck and faceplates. Big whoop. It'll be as good as the SG, but not necessarily an improvement. I'd rather not buy a new guitar if it's basically the old guitar...

Since my proper guitar and Halo 3 megathon playing, my X-Plorer was gathering dust. I thought, give Halo 3 a break and give it a go. OMG. Terrible. Just felt wrong on so many levels, and it makes me wonder, should I bother buying the guitar controller for RB if its heavy, but its not exactly gonna be perfect strat weight.
Or just wait and buy only the drums and mic? Probably the latter... god damn it, I don't know how some of you guitar players can switch between game and reality so easily.

Fortunately, since I play bass, I get to play something different than normal. The big trick is to separate them in your mind, since the only shared skills are rhythm and finger speed.

Lucky you. When I play the likes of Heart Shaped Box, something I can actually play, it just annoys me. It would be easier to not play GH or guitar on RB if I was crap. But I'm actually the best in my school (I was in a school competition a few months back) and its annoying to think I'm gonna waste my skills. But it just never feels right.

It's honestly not a waste from any talent you built up in GH, it just needs to get refocused. For example, you should already have a great handle of rhythm and relating your left and right hand movements. For stuff like having fast fingers, you now just need to refine that skill onto 6 strings. They're totally different animals, but there's just enough similarity that GH may have given you a little bit of a head start.

They're two totally different things.
Like playing baseball, golf, or tennis and then playing Wii Sports.
It's a game. You have to cut it some slack.

I started playing real guitar before I even heard about Guitar Hero. Guitar Hero 2 had been out for about a year I think before I heard about it and I'm thinking "Hey how cool would that be?". Then I got my $80, went down to the mall, and bought it. Been playing it since. I guess I was used to playing all up and down the neck and on 6 strings and I just built upon that to get used to Guitar Hero. Then sometimes after a while of playing Guitar Hero (like 6 hours) I would pick up my [real] guitar and start playing it (play it daily, love music too much lol). Don't know if that answers your question or helps in any way, but it was worth a try.
Edit: Guitar Hero helps with alternate picking so if you don't do that already, you might want to try that out.
