View Full Version : Only 45 songs? (not counting bonus songs)

Why is rock band only going to have 45 songs not counting bonus songs and GH3 is going to have over 70? That's such a big difference. Band World Tour Mode and Solo Tour Mode will be the best parts of the game but they will go by fast if you can only play 45 songs, unless they let you play bonus songs in the Tour Modes. They let you play bonus songs in GH2 tour mode so you should be able to in Rock Band. However you should be able to get some achievements for doing bonus songs in the Tour Modes. That would add some replay value to the tour modes.

to defend rock band's honor... you should prooobably count the number of main songs in guitar hero 3 again. that 70 is including the bonus songs as well. nothing against you though, those marketing guys ARE getting trickier every day

Trust me, if you think about it, we have TONS more playability that GHIII. Take these into consideration:
You'll be playing each song 3 times, one for each instrument, that right there is 135 original playtimes.
There will be almost-weekly DLC, sometimes just one song, sometimes whole albums, and anything in between, so that's at LEAST one new song each week.
Tons more online playability, you could be entertained for hours on end just playing online with people.
Tons more aspects that I'm too tired to think of right now.

With four tracks, three solo careers with varying tier set ups, plenty of DLC, and probably a good 30 bonus songs with all the Harmonix bands from GH (again with four tracks) who's complaining?
And remember World Tour is sim-like. Not a tier by tier setlist.
All in all, without DLC, the two probably equal in content.
Edit: Yeah GHIII's song count includes bonus songs I believe.

okay my bad GH2 only had 40 songs not counting their bonus songs ( so GH3 should have about the same number of songs) Both GH3 and Rock Band will probably have about the same number of songs (not counting bonus songs)

Remember this game goes up to 4 players . 4 friends to jam with wich is a lot of fun , also you can pass the game co-op if you dont have a full band , if you're alone you still can choose to do 4 different things and if you're up for DLC you have lots coming to you.

The leaked GH3 setlist shows 46 (non-bonus songs), and six of them are co-op encores. Looks like Rock Band is very competitive.

So there you have it, Guitar Hero III has 40 songs, and Rock Band has 45. Enough said...

Suppose GH3 has a few more songs than Rock Band at release. Let's say 5.
Release (with hypothetical numbers)
GH3: 70
RB: 65
One week after release
GH3: 70
RB: 68
One month after release
GH3: 73
RB: 90
Three months after release
GH3: 79
RB: 140
These are hypothetical, obviously, but possible considering HMX's stance on releasing weekly content, including whole albums.

Heh yeah, GH3 nearly fooled me with that bit of marketing as well, when I read it in some interview or something..
At first I was like, "whoah, they really have outdone themselves this time!"
But then I was like,"heyyy... waitaminute-"

dude, you realize that Who's Next and Nevermind are probably going to come out within the first week or two, as well as that metallica album.
but yeah, people getting mad about the 'only 45 songs' probably didn't realize that GH2 had the same and GH had less.
and I believe GH3 has more than 70 plus a bunch for DLC.. let's see how they do there.
I'm really interested to see how the dlc war goes (lol war), especially if GH3/activision/redoctane opts to keep the 3 song packs for 6.50 each and RB goes for buying each song individual or by album for 1.25 a song or album prices.

This is not a war...it's an extermination.

No, it is a war...............A WAR OF ROCK!!! from what I see RB's looks generally more enjoyable.

To many people's defense though, some (like me) don't really have all that spare money to get a lot of DLC if they are suppose a dollar fifty, two dolars a pop. Not saying that I'm mad about the 45 plus extra though.

You know what I wonder? I've seen maybe two or three posts of people claiming that Guitar Hero 3 is going to be the better buy (I believe that both games will have their merits) and I'm not typically a paranoid type of guy, but . . .
Maybe the posters are viral marketers hired by Activision to persuade Rock Band fans into buying Guitar Hero 3?
Just sayin'!;)
