Top 10 Most Wanted Halo 4 Developers (http://www.gametab.com/news/1064248/)
Since Bungie made it pretty clear that they're sick of making Halo games, where does that leave Microsoft? Who can the publisher hire to finish the fight? Here's our short list:
10) Gearbox
Why? For starters, Gearbox made the insanely popular Halo: Combat Evolved PC port. Besides that, the company is bursting at the seams with talent. With multiple teams, and lots of Halo experience under its belt, Gearbox would be a great fit.
9) Irrational (2K Boston/2K Aus)
Why? For starters, you might?ve heard of a little game called BioShock that sold a few copies. While the studio has little multiplayer experience, I doubt Microsoft is going to want to reinvent the wheel when it comes to Halo 4's online play. I bet 2K would rent them out for a few years on the cheap...
8) Ubisoft Montreal
Why? Bungie is sick of making Halo, and by now, I?m sure Ubisoft is tired of making Tom Clancy games. Ubisoft has the manpower, single and multiplayer savvy, not to mention the ability to make Halo 4 a legit sequel in less than 4 years.
7) Monolith
Why? Monolith is a veteran FPS developer, is located in Kirkland, plus is owned by Warner Brothers. You know, the movie studio. Microsoft wants a Halo movie. The game nets half a billion bucks, the movie loses a hundred mill. You do the math.
6) Retro Studios
Why? By now Retro has to be tired of making games for old hardware. I think they?re up to the challenge of trying its hand at a next-gen AAA title. Not to mention, I bet they could use a little break from making Metroid sequels.
5) Pandemic
Why? Bono digs Halo, right?
4) Rare
Why? Well, Microsoft already owns the studio, Rare is due for a hit after Perfect Dark Zero, and is savvy world of the 360, plus would be able to provide a superlative multiplayer experience.
3) Infinity Ward
Why? By now we?re digging pretty deep into the fantasy Halo 4 developer list, but since Microsoft has deep pockets, lets run with it. Infinity Ward is an awesome single player developer with exceptional multiplayer pedigree. By the time they get to Call of Duty 10, it?ll be set in space anyways. Why not just skip to the creamy filling?
2) Valve
Why? Okay, we?re really dreaming now. I?ll let you in on a little secret though. When the Halo guy takes off his helmet... guess who it is? IT?S GORDON FREEMAN! Work with me, here!
1) Epic
Why? Obviously, the studio best suited to make Halo 4 would be Epic Games. They have the technology, the experience and CliffyB. Just give Cliffy a bucket of Skittles and watch the miracles happen. ..
Who do you think would make the best Halo 4 developer?
What's the point of this? And if there was a point this list is just really awful. If it didn't have the word "Halo" in it I doubt it'd even have as many hits as it does.

Oh and just so I don't flood the place with threads (I try to not post threads actually) here's a nice long video with Through the Fire and Flames on GHIII:

I've seen worse. But then again, I used to frequent Gamespot's System Wars forum back in 2001.

You were a GameSpotter too? Coolness.
I occupied the place 2001 - 2004. I touched System Wars a bit during my fanboy, ignorant *******, phase of my life. Afterwards not much. Mainly OT and UCBs.

Yes, it's stupid, but has any top 10/100/etc. list ever really had any value ever?

If they do a Halo 4, I wouldn't at all be saddened to see a non-Bungie developer take over.
I just played through Halo 3 this weekend... I would call the experience overhyped crap, but that would be an insult to crap which is actually overhyped.
Between the uninspired level design, scarce plot, and terrible controls, I was more frustrated than entertained. Not to mention the glaring bugs.... how did this ever pass QA? On my campaign right now, I have achievements for missions 1,2,5, and 6. (Where the hell missions 3 and 4 went, I don't have a damn clue) At one point, I saved and quit to watch football, only to come back and find my saved game was over a full mission behind the spot at which I saved.
For the next release, they should just call it "Halo 4: Phone It In Edition" and copy/paste a bunch of the same-ish, average looking gameplay from the previous 3.

I have played through both.
Halo 1 had a few breakthrough features. AI that would use cover and dodge fire. Vehicle combat as an integrated part of the experience. Above average graphics and plot. At the time it was pretty amazing.
In contrast, Halo 2 and 3 did not up the bar at all. While the rest of the industry has innovated, Halo has stagnated. Gears of War, Half Life 2, and other modern FPS's have upped the bar substantially on the FPS genre while Halo has backslid.
The plot in Halo 3 seems thrown in as an afterthought. The map design utilizes a lot of copy/paste for models and areas. And I can't even rely on basic functionality like "saving my progress at a checkpoint." It torques me to no end to see something with years of refinement and endless hype to have such amaturish flaws.

I thought it was a trilogy anyways..not that its going to stop them from making a Halo 4...because I know they will...I kinda wish they wouldn't though. I think they need to try moving on to something else. Unless they make it they c an make it completely original, which I doubt would happen.
Nice video too, thats one song I'm not even going to bother playing when I get GH III.

I quite like the list. Though I still defend that I think Bungie will release a Halo Multiplayer Only game, maybe even become packaged with somesort of single player new franchise by Bungie. But, if this wouldn't happen, why not, some of the developers listed are damn good.

I sense not an FPS fan?
Halo 2 was a massive disappointment. Bungie themselves said in a great interview done by fav mag, ever, Edge. Halo 1 practically created the idea of console LAN parties.
Halo 2 introducted online multiplayer.
Halo 3 took this only multiplayer and refined it to hell. Thats why it got its stready stream of perfect scores (and yes, Edge gave it a 10, in over 10 years of press its only its 5th 10/10 i think). I in over 60 games have experienced 0% lag, and it is the greatest, quickest, and just generally most comfortable online gaming out there. And that includes PC games.

Actually I am a pretty huge FPS fan, which is why I have such a problem with Halo 3. Having played scores of FPS style games across the past decade, there are literally dozens of titles with better gameplay than anything the Halo series has to offer.
The thing which you touched on, which especially irritates me, is the whole online aspect. PC gaming had online play figured out 10 years ago, so the whole "most comfortable online gaming" comment just boggles me. Coming from the PC FPS world, Halo online play is "nothing special" to "marginally above average". I've heard Halo fans literally state that the game "invented" online multiplayer.... when in fact CTF, deathmatch, and other Halo online components are all blatent rip-offs from other games.
Other random gripes in no particular order:
* Covenant foot soldiers and their child-like whining.... I don't find it believable that the feared blood enemy of earth is a bunch of pointy-headed midgets that whine and cry at every battle.
* Controls: Keyboard/Mouse > Any Controller
* Completely forgetable terrain and maps. No destructable objects, no interaction with the environment.
* Game is a magnet for bratty, irritating kids. Even if I wanted to try multiplayer, I wouldn't stand the company.

Halo is just plain. I have been an FPS fan forever (but my heart belongs elsewhere, not a fanboy).
Halo 1 did a few things really well for a console shooter and set a standard for console shooters (specifically music, control scheme, and cinematics). When that became the norm instead of evolving Halo just kept that basic standard.
Apply that same principle to Halo 2 online and you have it's only saving grace.
Halo 3 is just a basic shooter.

getting back to the list, i fully agree with the idea of Epic, but im sure they would already be busy. GoW's multiplayer sucked, but UT's kicks ass, and UT is more like halo than GoW.

I say kill it but that may never happen so you do this:
Bungie overlooks pre-production (Halo books game please?) especially because they have the resources for it. Outsource writing and musical talent to another developer. I suggest 2K Boston or Monolith. Obviously MGS publishes it.
