I know there's probably been a lot of posts on this but the RB DLC has really been pretty bad. Please step it up with some A-list titles. Even if you have to revisit the same band a few times, we need better DLC.
Thanks you.

The last time they released DLC with bands I had never heard of (discluding the foreign bands) was back in March with Black Tide. So don't say they don't release well known bands most of which are A list or were A list back in their time.

I have been enjoying the DLC.... Muse, Blondie, Oasis, Clash in the last couple weeks alone with the cars coming up (will not buy whole album but very much looking forwrd to Moving in Stereo and some of the other hits).
Now I would enjoy a Ladies Pack, some Bon Jovi and a 80s hair band pack... and I will be happy for quite a while.. And then some of you hard core metal/ hard rock folks can have your turn in the sun after that :-)

To be honest I'm really digging most of the DLC here coming out. I'd like to pick a lot of stuff up but I have to manage my monies here and there so it's difficult. I didn't care FOR ALL the Europe songs, but I really enjoyed most of them.

Yeah, but it doesn't allow people to say that we DO NOT have A-list artists. We have MANY A-list artists, but a few of them only have 1 song in the game.
BTW, no complaining about Metallica; RB finally gave the fans what they wanted. And no Radiohead complaining, as we have 2 songs (My Iron Lung and Creep). And no KISS complaining, as we have 2 songs (Calling Dr. Love and Detroit Rock City), and no Iron Maiden complaining (Run to the Hills and Number of the Beast)
(Garbage is a VERY popular female Rock Band. That makes them A-list)

you have a point, but i think he is talking about HUGE bands. The Who, (which is listed in your post, but it still has not come out yet, so it doesn't count) AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Eagles. Come on Harmonix, give us one of these bands!

This is the only statement in this post that is fact.
...but the RB DLC has really been pretty bad.
HMX's sales figures would suggest otherwise.
Please step it up with some A-list titles.
The following bands have had DLC released:
Oasis, Boston, Metallica, The Cars, Queens of the Stone Age, Fall Out Boy, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Blur, Judas Priest, Ramones, The Clash, The Police, Blondie...
Maybe you've got a point. I mean who in God's name has ever heard of those bands!?
Even if you have to revisit the same band a few times, we need better DLC.
No. We need people like you to stop thinking your a spokesperson for every RB player, music fan, and forum poster. You want more DLC that you personally like. It has nothing to do with we.
This is yet another example of a poster stating their opinion as though it were fact. Can we PLEASE make this an auto-ban offense?

Quit whining! Just be happy that we get weekly DLC.
Think of Guitar Hero 3 (I know, just thinking of it is painful, it's just such a crappy game). They've gotten maybe seven DLC packs TOTAL. And you can't even pick individual songs to download!
Now, I don't care if I don't like the songs that they release each week. The fact of the matter is that Rock Band's song list grows on a weekly basis thanks to amazing work from Harmonix and we really have no right to complain.
Would you prefer it if they took away the weekly DLC? People are getting to cocky about the fact that we have it and forgetting the days when we didn't. Everybody expected DLC. Nobody expected it to come every week.
Get your heads out of your asses, quit taking Harmonix for granted, and be thankful for once in your lives.

YEAH! Because when I bought Rock Band I thought to myself, "I sure hope they take the same 58 bands on the disc and release another 4-5 songs from each!
The goal of RB has always been a variety of artists. This is just my opinion, but while I enjoy the bands on the disc, I also want a chance to play songs from OTHER bands.
I'd personally rather see 2-3 songs from 50-60 different bands than 6-7 songs from 25 bands. (It's why I personally won't buy full albums...or 6 song packs of any given artists)
If the following DLC bands THAT ARE IN THE GAME aren't A-List, then... well... I don't know what to say...
KISS - 2 dlc songs
The Police -6 dlc songs
Blink 182-1 dlc song
Credence Clearwater Revival-1 dlc song
Foreigner-1 dlc song
Blondie - 2 dlc songs
The Clash - 3 dlc songs
The Ramones - 2 dlc songs
Fall Out Boy (Get over it, people love them... not me, but still) - 1 dlc song

Muse-1 dlc song
Rush - 2 dlc songs
The B-52's-1 dlc song
Black Sabbath - 3 dlc songs
Boston - 6 dlc songs
Grateful Dead - 6 dlc songs
David Bowie - 3 dlc songs
Garbage - 2 dlc songs (their latest album reached #4 on the Billboard top 200)
Iron Maiden - 1 dlc song
Judas Priest - 9 dlc songs

Nine Inch Nails - 3 dlc songs
Oasis - 4 dlc songs
Paramore-1 song
Queens of the Stone Age - 3 dlc songs
Radiohead-1 dlc song
Smashing Pumpkins - 2 dlc songs
T-Rex (bang a gong get it on is played on the radio all the time)

Whatever happened to Nevermind album being released..
In a pre-launch interview, one of the Harmonix devs mentioned they had access to the Nevermind masters (probably as part of getting In Bloom in the game) That happened to be at a time when the concept of album DLC was being announced, so people took it up and ran with it as one of the likely candidates.
This was later coroborrated by a hacked/leaked DLC file listing which had Nevermind tracks listed on it. Given numerous tracks on that turned out to be later released, this hinted further at the possibility.
Despite this purponderence of evidence, there has been very little in the way of an official word.

There's nothing wrong with stating your opinion that the DLC hasn't been the best.
But the problem with threads like these...the posters don't address it this way. They state matter-of-factly that the DLC has been bad and that HMX needs to step it up.
Of course, they never actually go out on a limb and suggest which bands they'd like to see. Just a generic "We need better DLC NAO!"

The problem isnt actually a problem.
the problem isnt that there isnt enough good DLC, the problem is that there is alot of bad DLC. This is because there is sooooo much DLC. But this isnt really a problem. There is a simple solution dont buy the bad songs.....there are a ton of great songs by great bands that can be downloaded. Metallica, Ozzie, Oasis, black Crows etc. Let us not forget that if they didnt give us one more download this game will probably have the most DLC of any game in history. so every song is a blessing in a way.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not picking on you WNMC, just using your post as an example.
There is no, I repeat NO "bad dlc". It may not be what you listen to or you just plain don't like it, but that does not make it bad.
People need to stop speaking this way; labeling songs as good/bad/crap/etc. It only shows how ignorant and intolerant you are for others musical tastes and it give us intelligent folks something to point and laugh at.

Has Rock band sold anywhere near Guitar Hero 3's numbers? Are people buying Rock band now, after all the new DLC on a massive scale?
No. Not that we can see, besides in places where it was never offered before. Therefore, you're right, his statements may not speak for every RB player, it may not speak for every forum poster- but as for people who might buy this game, I think he does.

Let us not forget that if they didnt give us one more download this game will probably have the most DLC of any game in history. so every song is a blessing in a way.

I think I understand what you are trying to say, it's just the way you have worded it that has rubbed a few people the wrong way.
What I think the OP is trying to say is that the song choices themselves have been poor, not the groups themselves.
If that is the case, I would have to agree.
Case in point, the recent DLC of Blur and Smashing Pumpkins, in which we got Beetlebum and Zero. Good songs but hardly the songs that they are best known for. Song 2 and Bullet with Butterfly Wings would have been better choices.
I hope HMX comes through with the increase in the amount of DLC that they have said in the past. With RB's continuing popularity and now the introduction of GHWT this fall, an increase in the amount of DLC we get each week would be great.
What the hell are you talking about?...
I never said that they suck o.O i was just generalizing the usual dlc rants i see on here. I think Harmonix is doing a great job picking songs, most everyone will find at least something they like. I think that people feel "entitled" to their personal favorite songs because Harmonix has made very ambitious goals of having new game content up for download every single week, and they are sitting on a whole mess of that persons most favorite songs and that Harmonix is conspiring against them and not releasing the songs (see OXM list "leaked" lists)

We all know that Rock Band rules and is awesome, but who here would really like better songs for download? I mean who honestly wants The Cars album? Anybody? Didn't think so. Why is almost every song for download really old? I like old rock too, but that's not the only rock music out there, I mean I would like some Breaking Benjamin, Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park, Three Days Grace just to name a few that are bands that are more up to date and really rock. We'll have to see how actual sales turn out, but even then the statement 'nobody wants the Cars' is still blatantly false. I respect the wish for releases from more recent bands, but I'm glad that the classics aren't forgotten as well. I hope that the upcoming Disturbed DLC will give the 'modern rock' crowd some satisfaction, though.

Amen brother, AMEN! Feel same way, and your taste in music.... A++
I keep wondering to myself, who are these people who are excited for the Cars album and the Pixies album and where did they come from!? I tried listening to the albums and can't really get into them. To each his own. I wont be getting anything from either.
I told my friend, the Cars only have 1 good song, that song that goes, "Your money for nothing and your chicks for free". Then he let me know that was Dire Straits. So, i'm like, who are the Cars? I grew up in the 80's and I don't even know them. I spent the 80's listening to Slayer, Metallica, Testament, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Doors, etc....
I used to download everything, every week, but have since stopped last week. Now I'll be picky until better music is put out.
I still love Rockband though, but DLC has been lack-luster past couple of weeks. Can't wait for disturbed though.

why judge and try to sound like you are some kind of superior music fan because you have a broader range of likes? get over yourself.
the fact of the matter is that while most people like a lot of the DLC it could be much better. While you think JP kicks ass the sales figures prove you are in the minority. Sales figures are best, in general, for newer songs. The gripers, while annoying, do have valid points. I think most folks on these forums don't speak for the average player/DLC consumer.

open your musical horizons, if your not willing to STOP FRIGGIN COMPLAINING!
and the only reason JP doesnt get the figures it could is because only 1 of the songs on the album was really well known, and I have a feeling all album sales are gonna tend to go towards this where people will pick and choose what they want, no matter how popular the album is, cuz as ive stated multiple times in past post, who really likes ALL the songs in any given album by any band?

wow, im getting bashed for not being closed minded? how ignorant you must be
open your musical horizons, if your not willing to STOP FRIGGIN COMPLAINING!
and the only reason JP doesnt get the figures it could is because only 1 of the songs on the album was really well known, and I have a feeling all album sales are gonna tend to go towards this where people will pick and choose what they want, no matter how popular the album is, cuz as ive stated multiple times in past post, who really likes ALL the songs in any given album by any band?
No, you are getting bashed for being an idiot who assumes if you aren't like him there is something wrong with you. You are as bad as the DLC whinners you think you are better than.

why judge and try to sound like you are some kind of superior music fan because you have a broader range of likes? get over yourself.
the fact of the matter is that while most people like a lot of the DLC it could be much better. While you think JP kicks ass the sales figures prove you are in the minority. Sales figures are best, in general, for newer songs. The gripers, while annoying, do have valid points. I think most folks on these forums don't speak for the average player/DLC consumer.
Ummmm..... what sales figures? There are no official sales numbers ever released for the DLC except the general "Over 10 million sales".
If you're talking about the "statosphere" it is not, nor will it ever be, an accurate representation of sales figures.
I currently own approximately 90 or so songs (Including Cherry Bomb and Judas Priest album) and none of my DLC is listed on that site. You know why? Because it relies on leaderboards and I don't play it while hooked up to the internet. I hook up, download new DLC and then unhook. People who do this don't get counted in those numbers. As well, there are many other factors which may factor into those "stats" being quite unreliable.
*Please note, this is not meant to be a hit against the "Statosphere" creator nor the work that he/she is doing, it is meant to show that the numbers can not be truly relied upon to be an accurate sampling of all players

That being said, I think you're reading too much into what vedis is trying to say. I interpreted his first post as 'if your tastes in music are relatively narrow, you're less likely to get the music you want to those with broader tastes', which makes perfect sense when you think of it.
The problem is that a lot of people on here try to argue why their particular musical choices should be included by saying 'this is what everybody wants, and not the stuff you're putting out'. I never like it when people are speaking for me, especially not when I disagree with them. Personally, The Cars album dlc makes me happier than a Linkin Park or Avenged Sevenfold album DLC ever could. That's not to say that I'm opposed to the latter bands getting full album DLC...I'll probably pick the songs I like from that week instead of getting the full album, just like Vedis suggests.

Brilliant statement! Bravo! *Slow clap*
Seriously, do you not have anything of substance to add to an adult conversation?
Far too many people take what should be adult discussions concerning the DLC and musical merits of genres and turning it into pissing contests. What side can get more people pissing on the other?
What we should be discussing when quality of DLC comes up is:
a) Is it fun?
b) Is it challenging enough?
c) What is the musical quality? (i.e. is the song penned with a great amount of musicianship or is it basically the same 3 chords over and over? Do the lyrics show a level of sophistication to them or is it merely pop-pandering?)
It seems increasingly clear to me that we can not have an adult discussion anymore on this board. It's terrible that a once great community has devolved into a pack of neandrethals who can not speak civily about things.

i think the problem is, people dont look at that as a criteria, its like "if i dont like the band, the dlc sucks, and im not willing to give ANYTHING a chance.
and if you look at the majority of people out there, this is exactly the attitude they put off about it.
they are mostly ALL whining about wanting the same bands over and over. Acting as if it is the end of the world if specific bands arent released like those are the only ones that exist.
A song being fun, challenging(i shouldnt say challenging, but just plain not too boring would be a better way of putting it, its gotta keep you interested without being too hard ot too easy, aka thrasher on one end....roxanne on the other) as for point 3 im not 100% what ya mean with that, but i think it kinda melds in with point 2 as i interprit it.

When is HMX going to realize this is simply just a video game, people just want good music they know and thats fun to play along to,instead HMX wants to broaden peoples "musical horizons" did they forget this is just a video game,or are they trying to do something else with it?
I'd have loved to know ahead of time when i spent my money on this game(which i figured was a game, nothing more nothing less) that they were going a different route, thanks but no thanks HMX i dont need you to show me music,it may work on some people but in all honesty, your taste in music sucks.
How do you expect to continue to sell units when the DLC that last month or 2 has been utter trash? You're making it easier on people who havent bought the game yet to decide to go with GH or whatever else.Stop trying to play music teacher and instead cater to the casual gamer who makes up for more then 60% of your sales.

yeah your right , i cant think of one single album that has all songs i like .... except maybe hum lets see, guns n' roses, def leppard, nirvana, led zep, ac/dc, megadeth, flaw, drowning pool, poison, bon jovi, cinderalla, life of agony, godsmack, spread eagle(look em up from the 80s) and many more i would gladly buy, as for the dlc of late , i have bought it, i have every single song for this game, just for the ability to play it.
Didnt say i loved it or what ever, but unless your singing it? who really cares, just play it and shut up, if you really dont like it then dont buy it , or trade with someone so you dont have to pay for it. And if it really is something you dont want? then dont get it no matter what, but i like the ability to play something else .

Oasis and Boston are really the only good bands being released for DLC. The rest is just crap. Alot of the DLC seems like a mean joke.
I oughta give you such a pinch... Rush anyone? There's a reason they're still touring and selling albums, because they are and were great.
They SHOULD have graduation ceremonies from elementary school...to document whether or not you passed the second grade. Last I checked a lot was two words.

Ok, first off let me state that I have been banned several times for posts complaining about the dlc.
Second, yes I do have it all, but that doesnt necessarily mean that Im a fan of it, i.e. thrash pack?
I really would like to state my mind on this though because Ive been on both sides of the fences of this matter and I agree with both sides.
I do believe that the dlc has been , how do you put it?, a little on the were the hell did they get this crap from? side to omg this is what I've been dying to have.
For me to come to where I no longer really care what they put out and Ill still buy it, I had to realize one thing, IS IT FUN TO PLAY?
If so then who cares what song it is, your getting more stuff to play in a game than what you originally bought.
Do you not remember the days of buying a game and playing it and beating it and that was it? Im 34 and I do. They were fun but they got old, because you had nothing new to them. That is why I dont really care too much about what comes out for dlc, because it just adds more choices to your songs.
Now, for the EU stuff? Yes I was pissed at first, but after getting the songs, I cant get enough of them, they are fun to play at my rock band parties, even my kids love them.
Now enough of the fan boy stuff.
Im seriously pissed we dont have some moreAAA bands like Guns N Roses, Alice In Chains, Godsmack, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Drowning Pool, Flaw, HIM, Shiny Toy Guns, Posion, Warrant, Cinderalla, Firehouse, Drop Box, and many many many many more awesome bands.
Add Led Zep , ac/dc, megadeth, and some more bands I cant think of at the moment.
Im not sure what all Im saying I guess, just try to enjoy the game for what it is and not what we really want it to be. And if you really dont dig it then damn go buy GHWT when it comes out, I probably will just for different songs and different guitars because I love the whole music game scene.
Also I do have american idol and singstar because of different reasons, both make great party games in their own right, so just enjoy the games for what they are.
BY THE WAY, IF YOU THINK YOU CAN MAKE A BETTER GAME, GO START YOUR OWN DAMN COMPANY AND MAKE US THE BEST DAMN GAME IN THE WORLD OK?
Ok Im stepping off my soap box now, and the next person can step on up.
Ps, I cant wait til thursday for the cars! I love them from my youth.
Enjoy and have a great life, yours truely, master2uall.

Don't really see where you were going but if you mean that we need bigger bands, I agree. Sure these songs are fun to play but why not give in to what everyone is asking for? I don't see anyone asking for most of this stuff.
Hopefully the reason they're holding off on big songs is some kind of sequel or something along those lines.

All I see is...
"OMG WTF THIS BAND SUX GIMME THIS BAND MY MUSICAL TASTE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT IS RITE MOAR THIS THIS AND THIS AND NO MORE THIS THIS AND THIS KTHXBIE"
Rule #1:People have diffrent taste. Do not open threads to bash other taste of music because you don't like it. Just don't download it. HMX does it's best to make sure each genre gets its share.
OMG 15 PAGES RDY SET GO
EDIT:Maybe if you get banned too much for it... It's a sign to just... NOT post about it anymore?

This is the only part of your post that makes no sense at all. Firehouse, Drop Box (who the hell are these guys?), Drowning Pool, Flaw (ditto on the wth?), HIM, and Shiny Toy Guns aren't even close to AAA bands. Really, the only unequivocally AAA bands on that list are GnR, Pearl Jam, and Nirvana.
I agree with the sentiment of not being so obsessed with what Rock Band isn't, and enjoying it for what it is, but the above bit is a serious head scratcher.

well check them out drop box is a part of godsmack spinoff, and is alot like alice in chains, and flaw is one of the best bands of the 2000s but not alot of people have heard of them, as for him and shiny toy guns, my daughters cant get enough so if its important to them they they must be relavent.

I just have a couple comments about your post.
1. If AAA Bands stands for Amazingly Average Acts, I agree with you. Outside of HIM and GnR, I really dont want to see ANY more of this generic rock garbage. Nevermind from Nirvana would be ok, but it would just be the same repetitive crap we get from In Bloom, Vasoline and anything we have had in past Guitar Heros of the same ilk.
2. I agree with you that the music game genre really does need DLC, it needs dlc to keep it fresh. With the Original 58 that came with the game, I would have stopped playing sometime in January when I beat the Guitar Solo Tour on Hard. But, to come on these message boards, where at least a few of the Devs will visit, and read what we think of the hard work they have put into the game, and just openly complain about everything they have worked so hard to do. Really, they dont need to give us anything. They could just be working 100% on Rock Band 2, Rock Band: Crappy Rock Group, and Rock Band DS, and ignoring the millions of us that paid almost 200 dollars on their game. I think we need to just let the Developers be, we dont need to b!tch at them on a daily basis just because YOU dont like the songs. Deal with it, and let them know with your wallet, thats the most powerful way to let them know how you feel. (You really think we will be getting anymore Mother Hips, Thrash or Runaways anytime soon? I dont think so)
3. Enjoy another ban, I would think a 34-year-old would have something better to do than get banned from an internet message board over and over again, but I stand corrected.

Last time i checked Poison was pretty ****ing big all through the 80's and early 90's,bigger than Pearl Jam and Nirvana actually. They're still makin music today unlike Pearl Jam and Nirvana.Nirvana only got big because cobain blew his brains out.
I pray to God we dont see anymore mother hips, thrash,or any hmx bands for a long time, then again they just announced DEvo as dLC so the crap cycle continues.Guess HMX is just cheap unlike Activision, who have no problem getting big named artists and songs.
The big point is HMX NEEDS to stop releaseing DLC based on what they like, stop catering to yourselves and pay attention to the comsumer or you're going to see a drop in customers when GH4 comes out.

Pearl Jam is still making music... music that's still actually heard on the radio. Nirvana was a juggernaut of a band long before Kurt Cobain killed himself: Smells Like Teen Spirit was a mammoth hit, and Nevermind ruled the airwaves for months.
Incidentally, comparing the supplemental dlc of Rock Band versus announced artists for the retail release of GH IV is ridiculous. Compare apples to apples. Or do you really think, given their established track record with dlc, that Activision is suddenly going to be releasing nothing but #1 hits from multi-platinum artists every couple of weeks?
I don't.

I'm going to throw some perspective into this thread with another thread (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51910).
The more I think about it, that thread's main point is what HMX/MTV Games is headed for.
So perhaps we'll get to the point where we will see, say 2-3 different 3-packs in a week sooner rather than later.
Imagine the possibilities: a 3-pack by Pearl Jam and a 3-pack by The Rolling Stones both in one week. How about a 6-pack by The Grateful Dead, a 3-pack by Poison, and 2 singles by Lenny Kravitz also in one week.
Now those are only examples, but I'd assume that is the goal HMX/MTV Games has in mind. It is ambitious, but seeing as how HMX seems to be hiring (http://tbe.taleo.net/NA3/ats/careers/searchResults.jsp;jsessionid=0D5AB44756B6DF03BE795 6E8F0F908CB?org=HARMONIXMUSIC&cws=1), it's not impossible at all.
Perhaps, if we want the DLC we want, then keep using the "Request Song" feature on the site (http://www.rockband.com/request_song). Keep it up and perhaps you'll see the band you've wanted.
Don't whine about the DLC, do something productive about it.
