View Full Version : Songs that face out

So, something occurred to me...
None of the tracks in the GH games fade out at the end. Since most of them were covers, it was easy to give all the tracks a "proper" ending when it was needed. (For example, the real "More Than A Feeling" fades out at the end, while GH's cover version doesn't).
Most of RB's tracks aren't covers. Are there any that you know of that fade out at the end? I can't think of any off the top of my head.
Do you think the fade out thing is a determining factor for Harmonix to include an original track?

I think that definate ends are a lot more desirable when you compare them to fade-outs, Freebird and More Than a Feeling are great examples. I think that sometimes master recordings just fade out, I can't really think of any other than Gimme Shelter...
I think that sometimes it can't be helped, songs like The Warrior and I Wanna Rock had fade-outs, becuase that was the way the master tracks were constructed.
Of course I could be wrong.

Yea, some of the 80s songs faded out. I really didn't care for it. Don't know how RB will handle it.

I don't have a problem with songs fading out. If they're gonna fade out, then let em'.

I think it would be funny to have songs in Rock Band fade out - perhaps the game should force you to match the vocals' volume as it decreases out of the song (assuming the vocals are a part of the fade)? :D

for songs that fade they could just add a Band jam section onto the end let you end how you want.

Agreed. Or even make up their own little ending, like they have in the OK GO song.

Didn't somebody at one of the earlier tour events mention that one of the songs faded out without a freeform section, and it pissed them off?

Surely since Harmonix have access to the master recordings they could simply eliminate the fade out altogether?

Yea I was gonna mention that. They make up an ending for that song and it's actually pretty nice. I'm sure they'll do that for the songs that fade out.

Yeah, I think they were saying it was EPIC
(as in the song, not the level of their annoyance)

Exactly, they'll most likely stay away from fading out, to give you a real experience of performing live as a band, if you fade out not only does it sound really off and bad, it just doesn't work that way at a concert. And Harmonix has always said they are trying to give everyone that full rock band experience!

I'm not worried about the songs that fade out so much as the songs that face out...

Ah yes, but they still need to find somewhere to end it, so it all depends where the master ends, and if an ending can be gracefully tacked on or not.

Agreed but the fact remains. It will end.

True, I'm just saying that it's tricky to put an ending on a song, when the artist didn't originally. Also someone at one of the tour dates said Epic had a fade-out. So for some reason the song doesn't have a hard ending :(

Doesn't it just fade out with a piano?

You mean the actual song? The instruments fade out and leave the piano.
