Well I guess if you want to delete me as a friend on PSN thats okay or maybe you like akwardness, but I am 12. I guess I might be the youngest person on the forums. I really have been wanting to address this for a long time but now is as good a time as any. What I would like to talk about is the common...perception of kids that play Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
It is true that most kids that play Rock Band and Guitar Hero, or maybe just kids in general, are somewhat uninteligible. When I told my friends about Gutiar Hero:World Tour the common reaction was "ZOMG a game with bass, guitar, drums, and singing, awesome!". Also, the sterotypical kid does still have a PS2, or other last generation consoles such as the Wii (Yeah, I said it). They have Guitar Hero 3, but refer(I dont know how to spell that) as the one with Dragonforce on it.
Truely I think Rock Band has not really come to the average kid yet. To them it is just the big box close to Guitar Hero at Best Buy. I think Harmonix needs to have some kind of a big marketing plan to appeal to kids that could make them a lot of money. The Guitar Hero commercial with David Cook (as much as I hate to say it) is a brilliant marketing scheme. Something like that which appeals to a younger audience would help at lot.
Another thing is Harmonix's approch to selling dlc. That too, needs to be advritised. Some kids i know, with next gen consoles have no idea what the music store is for.
And also, I would like to brag that i play Expert/Hard Drums, real guitar, and pay for my own dlc.

i'm gonna be 14 soon, and have paid for most of my DLc with Christmas money, and now i'm hitting a snag and watching my money.
i also haven't told any of my friends on XBL that i am 13. its funny.
if you guys want to play, i have most of the DLC, and plan on getting most of the albums. i play on expert on all instruments except singing because i like to have fun. my gamertag is Guitarplayer777.

Hey all of you young whipper snappers!:D Kidding.
I just wanted to say that your grammar is exceptional for being so young! :)

I give major props to you for being mature and 12 at the same time (an exceptional feat in this day and age). However I think that the balance between kids and adults in Rock Band is probably pretty even. GH3 might appeal more to kids because of some of the music (Disturbed and Slipknot for example). I'm 14 and try to make myself seem like one of the mature kids on the internet and I'm glad to see someone else like me!

First of all let me give a great big hand to all you young people!
{{{{{{HUGE ROUND OF APPLAUSE}}}}}}
First to the op (original poster) Your post was very mature and well spoken! You knew what you wanted to say and you did it. I am very pleased to see there are still young people in the world that is not ignnorant and disrespectful! Man To the rest of you there are some of you that I never knew you were under the age of 18! Some of you have posted in my review threads and from the comments I would have never known!
I have a 12 year old son, and he also plays the game. I agree with you that there should be a little more marketing towards kids. You the young generation is the future of this and any other game that comes out. You should not be taken lightly as the number 1 GH player right now is a 10 year old.
Thanks for this post and if I ever get the PS3, I will be happy to play with any of you. if anyone is on the 360 my gamer tag is the same as it is here.

I love how nobody has checked the OP's profile page. He's actually 22 years old. Sorry to kill it for everyone. He makes a good point though, not all under-14's are douchebags.

Fun fact: Correct grammar makes people take you A LOT more seriously. That means capitalizing "I"'s and whatnot. I applaud you for not demonstrating a total lack of common sense. That seems to be in short supply among everybody, not just young people.

i would have never guessed that i might not be the youngest person on the forums. just like the original poster, i am also 12, but i would like to know if he or i are younger. i actually do not have rb yet (only have a wii) but i have it pre-ordered and will get it on july 5th. im not getting it on the release date because I, like a lot of 12 year olds, will be at camp.
i like not having to capitalize stuff. makes typing easier. yays.

OP, the problem with Rock Band is it's a little cost prohibitive for people your age usually. I know when I was 12 I couldn't of bought it. Parents didn't pay me allowance and so the only money I got at that age was during birthdays and Christmas. One of those wouldn't of been enough to buy the Rock Band Special Edition. I was usually good at begging my parents to buy me consoles, but 1 game that expensive? I somehow doubt it, even if I used the excuse that me and my brothers could all play at the same time.
I'm glad you are enjoying Rock Band and can buy your own DLC. But I will also say that as someone in my 20s I'm kinda glad Rock Band came out now as I was guaranteed to being able to buy it.

You make a good point, but I didn't mean that the kids themselves had to buy it, but marketing it to kids would make them want it, and thier parents could get it for them, or they can buy it themselves.

It's funny that he is acting more mature and articulate than people closer to my age.
Or maybe that's just a sad comment on my generation ;)

I have to admit this thread has been very refreshing. Real punctuation. Real sentences and not internet shorthand! Thank you!!!
My youngest daughter is 12 and plays both RB and GH3 on expert (gutar and sometimes drums).
Here's my take on it from a parent's perspective: RB is expensive. Not many kids have that kind of money nor the ability/patience to save up for it. Then, there's the cost of DLC, mods, etc. All in all this game can get rather expensive quickly.
Unless you have cool parents, (like me :D), it must be very difficult to even get started.
For those of you that have worked and purchased the console, game and DLC on your own - BIG congrats. For those of you with "cool" parents - congrats (but, stop being embarassed that your parents play video games, ok?:D)

I have always been of the opinion that I don't care how old you are, as long as you don't act up on Live. My son played online from the age of 8 (17 now) on certain games and often got compliments on his maturity when others discovered his age.
I have no problem at all playing with (and getting whooped by!) young 'uns. As long as there's a mutual respect thing going on in the room, then it's all good.
