Not sure if this works for GHII, but I found this out while screwing around in GH's tutorials...
If you go to the advanced techniques tutorial, instead of doing the hammer-on/pull-off sequence the game tells you to, you can strum and hit notes, do your own little tapping solos, all sorts of fun stuff. You're only limited to 5 notes, and no chords, and there is a time limit on each of the lessons (about 1 to 1 and a half minutes) but it's pretty cool to mess around with. Anyone else tried this?
EDIT: Maybe we'll have something like this in future Rock Band titles, with more diversity in notes of course. :D

Yea I did it before. Almost played Enter Sandman but then the time ran out.

What he is saying is. Go into the tutorial for hammer ons and pull ofs, but DONT do what the instructor says. Instead make your own patterns. Its pretty cool
