Just when you think you weathered the storm, Enter DLC May 27 2008
Week after week DLC offers crap, helping me decide that GH4 is the future not "CRAPBAND" who continues to serve up nothing of substance.

If you honestly think rockband is doing all they can to be the best your in for a rude awakening!!GH4.

maybe next week we can get soothing sounds, like waves crashing on the beach, Wind blowing through the trees, or Rockband getting there ass handed to them by GH4 who have announced numerous artist and songs with substance.

You know, as long as both chicks are cool with it, you can date two of them at the same time. And hey, even if they AREN'T cool with it, you still can. :)

IF the music isn't in your taste. Don't buy it.

Personally, the cars album was a great choice.

Looking forward to Doolittle. Which is such a great album.

My only issue is I don't have enough room for another set of plastic drums :( .. That, and my wife doesn't even like having the RB set out all the time.. :) - I've been lovin' the DLC choices myself.. but hey..

I don't understand. If you hate Rock Band, wouldn't it make sense to sell it now and move on with your life? There are other games to play in the meantime.

Or is this a sample of the pitiful wars that are going to happen on these forums in the lead up to GH4?

The Cars being released today was not a surprise. If you cannot handle the Pixies next month, you might want to preorder GH:4 while the rest of us play Doolittle.

I agree...with the quote.. not with the O.P.

I am really getting bored with people complaining about the DLC...'
I know its great for HMX to hear...but the constant complaining reminds me of why i want a divorce...

What I am saying is Rockband has made millions off the DLC is it to much to ask for them to spend a little of that on some Elite bands that want a higher premium to obtain #1 Hits.

Or

Is it a case of no matter what they come out with it makes money, kind of like the fat ugly chic someone will take her home.

100% agree. I really believe it comes down to money and the fact that they are simply satisfied with their success early on. We all saw the reports on the "bonus" money being thrown around and the overall sales numbers. Those behind RB simply don't want to re-invest in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the bands in RB have come at no cost. Perhaps they get a small kickback of the sales of their music. Most of these bands have been done for years or never made it big in the first place so they are probably thrilled that anyone actually remembers them or has heard of them, let alone put them in a video game.

GH4 is creating such a buzz because of the music already mentioned, the look of the drums and the fact that the majority of people are simply fed up with HMX and what they are doing and have done over the past two to three months. I think it's pretty sad and pathetic that they discuss "The Who" and "Nirvana" as albums but then release Judas Priest, The Cars and The Pixies without no explanation as to what the hold up is on the two originally planned. Pretty much sums up what they think of those that have put money in their pockets. RB was released 6 months ago and still no signs or reasoning as to what happened with the two albums mentioned before the game was even released. I really believe that turned a lot of people away from RB. Pretty insulting. That's like ordering a custom Harley and a scooter shows up at your door with no refund and note saying "joke's on you"

Oh well. Thanks to GH, there is something to look forward to as far as music games are concerned.

Or maybe it's because GH4 has already booked all the best bands. Perhaps HMX never saw them coming.

Thanks for the link! By the way, why are you reading GH message boards? I thought anything mentioning or discussing GH was a crime against HMX.

Anyways, thanks again for the link!

Yay. Yet another thread about GH4. Oh, wait, this one's different. The OP was actually using both hands to massage Activision's nether regions.

*sigh* Just not true, but again, people only hear what they want to hear. Alex Rigopolus stated the day that the 3 albums were announced that the record company had not finished turning over all of the "Who's Next" masters to HMX. The Nirvana issue has been addressed as well. We know it was on the hacked list that was floating around, but HMX has said time and time again that there was no official Nirvana announcement (and there wasn't - just one guy saying they had them). Having the masters and having the rights to release are two different things. You don't have to like the explanations, but there is no sense in pretending that there have not been reasons given.

Honestly, for people who feel betrayed by HMX, there is probably nothing earth shattering that is going to happen to change your minds. If you believe GH4 is going to decimate RB and you want nothing to do with this game anymore, be smart and sell your stuff now and go find another hobby. Otherwise, in the supposed mass exodus of folks "jumping ship," your RB stuff will get lost in the flood of other sellers on eBay. Then you can be happy not to have this evil game and the rest of us can be crazy enough to enjoy it in peace.

Thats what im thinking as well.I mean why doesnt Activision have a problem getting the big names, yet HMX does and so they settle for less than par music.Sure DLC is great but even HMX has to know there's better DLC out there that will make them a boatload of money and help them sell units to at least be on an even playing field with GH.

Poor HMX,being content with being medicore and second best never made anyone a winner.

Less than par music... I dunno. GH3 was loaded with it. Even for some of the good bands they tripped over what song to take (Black Sunshine? Even Flow? Same Old Song And Dance? Reptilia? ... okay, RB made the Reptilia mistake too, but still). It's all a matter of personal taste. Heck, as I've said before, I'll take more of The Mother Hips than most of GH3's bonus tour... and I know I'm probably almost alone in that. It's all a matter of preference, but I have had more fun with the wider range of music (including the stuff that most, myself included, wouldn't put in in a million years) that Rock Band offers than what GH has been able to do lately with, admittedly, some really, really good songs.

I'm not going to say that a lot of the bands being released as DLC for RB are all A-list bands, because they're not. However, the way I look at it...GH is more about the challenge aspect, whereas RB is more about the music aspect of it.

Therefore, in RB you'll see songs that anyone could FC their first time through, and you'd never see that same song in GH because it isn't hard enough. Even a lot of huge bands like Zeppelin for example...probably their most famous song (but definitely not the best) Stairway to Heaven. You're telling me that it would be more fun playing an easy song like that, just because it has more name recognition, or would it be because you just have the chance to play the song in a game.

Could we use more A-list bands? Yes. Will GH continue to always get the harder (therefore better according to a lot of you) songs? Yes. Will RB get some difficult songs, but also a lot of easy songs, because the RB focus is more on the playing of music, rather than the challenge aspect as much? Yes.
