What? Now they're saying June!!! I preordered mine in April and the ship date has now gone from mid April, to late April, to mid May. I got confirmation from Customer Service at TAC that it would ship on May 15th....the 15th came and went and then Customer Service told me that because of the cyclone it would be pushed to May 27th. I checked with them again last night and they said it would ship THIS WEEK. This completely sucks...they've had my $70 for 2 months now and still no bass! Sorry...wrong forum to vent in....off to the TAC website!

I just finished a chat session with Customer Service also and got the same "next week" message too. I'm not AS frustrated with it being delayed as I am with the crappy run around from TAC. Just tell me "sorry" there was a cyclone & the thing has been delayed indefinitely....we'll let you know as soon as we have a solid date. Instead the guy tells me today that "next week" is the final shipping date and they are getting their stock in on Saturday. Well, you know what...I was also told that the 15th was final & the 27th was final. I'm with you BirdMan...I'll believe it when the thing is in my hands.:mad:

I'm getting frustrated with this company. I ordered the Wireless V and two weeks ago heard that they were shipping that week from someone on the board. I chatted with them last monday and they told me they would ship that week. I chatted with them on Friday and they said they were going to ship that week, which I replied "as in by tomorrow?" and they said "yes". I talked to them yesterday and they repeated the "this week" claim and I asked if that was guaranteed and they said "yes".

If they don't ship this time, I'm cancelling my order. This company has changed their original mid april deadline 3-4 times now and still can't make it, which is leading me to wonder if these guitars even exist.

Edit: looks like their webpage is at least saying that the V is "In Stock Now" so maybe I'll see this thing. Should have the same internals as the widowmaker, so I'm sure you widowmaker guys are going to want to pay close attention to whatever reviews are posted on the V.

I was really REALLY looking forward to this guitar too... had the cCard out and everything for pre-order but my buddies said "naa we want to rock band party it up tonight, lets go to EB and get it now." since i don't own any of the GH games, i figured why not. looks like peer pressure worked positive for me.... i'd hate to think of the razzing i'd be getting from them all if i held off for this widowmaker.

For what it's worth, this month's Game Informer has a "guitar controller roundup" that included the V. Here's what they said:


Pro: Earns points for being the only 3rd party controller to play both RB and GH on PS2 and PS3. It functions well enough, though none of its features truly excel.

Con: Not the guitar for lap players, strum bar could stand to have a few screws tightened, and the whammy bar feels like a wet noodle.

Game informer rated the Nyko Frontman highest among 3rd party controllers, and having one myself, I can confirm that it's pretty darn good.

In other news, this company continues to seem a bit shady based on what I've seen (lying on forums and lying about ship dates). The PS2 -> PS3 adapter sounds like a good product though.

I just got a shipment confirmation on my V. Delivery estimate of June 3rd... :( You'd think after delaying it for a month and a half longer than what was promised when I ordered it that they'd upgrade me to 2nd day instead of shipping ground.

TAC chat Will told me its gonna ship this week when I chatted with him early this week and I did double confirm with him on stocks.

It seems to work properly on the PS3, which is good, however when connected to my PS2 it seemed to lose it's connection at random while messing around on Rocks in the 80's. I tried it with both GH3 and RB on the PS3 and had no major issues, just minor ones that could be chalked up to not being used to it.

And, yeah, the solo frets and effects switch work like they should.

About the worse thing I can say about it is that the solo frets are round buttons that stand up considerably from the guitar so running your finger across them for big rock endings like you can with the strat will give you some pretty heft calices and the shoulder strap attachments are in very awkward positions.

I mostly was playing on GH 2 player coop, so it's hard to tell. I'll experiment more later. I had no issues with the two songs we played on RB, but in GH it seemed a bit touchy. That could have been us having problems tilting the guitar at the same time, though (we don't usually play GH anymore).

We tried very hard to get the product out and communicated the date to tech support, but dates keep slipping due to many reasons, including employees and unstable supply chain affected by the natural disaster in China, . At this point, we are confident that we will be able to air ship the Widow Maker here by 6/23/2008. Obviously we are disappointed about the delay, this is our best product and we want to get them out to the customer as soon as possible. As a small token of appreciation, we will include the 360FLY Clip for free in the package.


If you feel more comfortable canceling the order now and re-order later, we will accommodate that and make sure there is enough inventory later for re-order. We will make sure pre-order in the system will get the guitar before anyone else, including retailers.

The 360 Fly clip came with the Freedom V, but it didn't include the "360FLY Peg Kit" needed to use it. In other words, we have the guitar and the clip but no way to attach the guitar to the clip.

It had a note instead that said we had to email their support division with a bunch of information like name, address, order number, serial number of the guitar, in order to get one. It said that it'll take 2-3 weeks to ship. I emailed them since it looks like it'll be free but it's not the feature I bought the guitar for. You don't have time to play ZZ-Top in Expert.

I appreciate the answer from the makers TAC, even if it does not address why it has taken 3 months to tell the consumer that the earthquake has screwed up the manufacturing and shipping dates.

I am patient and since I now have another guitar to play with a band, I am not in that much of a hurry to get the bass, although I am not canceling the orde.

I saw the MadCatz bass and it looks cool as well, but it is also still not available. The microphone with the built in controller looks interesting (HMX are you paying attention?)

I'm on with TAC customer service right now cancelling my order. They are actually telling me June 20th so more mixed messages and misinformation from TAC. Unfortunately I'll just have to find another guitar to buy as I am so &%*$ frustrated with TAC I doubt that I'll ever buy anything from them again.

The TAC Adapter works just fine, I am satisfied with that product. I recently ordered the Widow Maker and the Electric Blue Drum Sticks (hopefully their pretty cool...). Well, good luck with your order. If they would have been honest about a ship date with mine, I would have been more patient. But after >2 months it gets tiring. If you do get yours, please drop a note and share a review.

They process/charge things WHEN they ship it. If you canceled your order before it shipped, then...you simply canceled your order, no charged involved.

Sorry for your frustration. I'm so glad I cancelled my order. These people do not deserve my hard earned money after lie after lie. I just hope the guitar works great for you.

Yeah, I noticed TAC removed some of the Widow Makers posts, including even one of their own! Oh well, mine is coming in on Friday too. Will post review. I did get their PS2 to PS3 converter and very happy with that. Just hoping the strum bar on the Widow Maker has the same feel of my Red Octane wired guitar. I returned the mushy feeling strumed RB guitar.

Strummer: Passable....not as good as the strat...tighter and clicky...works fine thou.

Fret Buttons: AWESOME, I like them better for hammer-on/pull offs. Solo fret buttons are silly...but who does a bass solo?

Whammy Bar: Stiff...not as good as the strat....but it works fine...

Effects Switch: Very nice...more out of the way.

Strap: HORRIBLE....they make you hook it in BEHIND the body of the guitar...this is my biggest complaint....really sucks...

I haven't really put it through it's paces yet, but I plan on doing a endless setlist with it, so I'll post more after I do that...

Where else would you put it? It is designed to spin around in a circle at the body? Cant put it at the neck, ontop? or maybe in the front? I dont understand why this would be horrible. I am not taking up for these guys at all. As a matter of fact, when I saw the first post on this I thought about getting one untill I see the trouble everyone is going through. I wont get one now for sure. Screw that. lol.
