Funny thing is that in the interview the person says "Isn't that called ROck Band" and the guy has to correct her "no, we're guitar hero world tour".

I actually think they may be shooting themselves in the foot. The thing I think they could have a hard time with is the compromise you have to make as far as song selection when you have to consider the whole band. I am sure there are plenty of people that just want a guitar game, and that is a lot easier to get right when you don’t have to worry about drums, vocals etc. I think they could either a) isolate their hardcore fans by compromising on the song selection, or b) the game for the entire band will not work well because they continued to only focus on good guitar songs.

I think Rock Band, being a new title, was in a much better position to do it right. Guitar Hero on the other hand could have a tougher time with the transition. I guess only time will tell.

I"ll say this... the drums are different, but I see and hear nothing that makes me think they're any better. The guy playing them is tapping them lightly and you can clearly hear them. I want to see someone beating on them like a 12 year old in Best Buy. If they stand up to a few weeks of that, then I'll say they're better. Right now they're just different...

oh and about their hard core fans. I think most that can afford it already have Rock Band. The Guitar Hero name isn't going to help them sell a $200 product. I'm speculating, but I think that of the people who might spend $200 on a rhythm game, more than half have already invested in Rock Band.

I wish they'd have shown more of the game screen. I noticed they hid the bass pedal. The game doesn't look any different than GH3 from the little I got to see, just more instrument lanes. But hey, if PAULA ABDUL likes it then it MUST BE good..... :p

Not long enough of the gameplay video to say if it's good or not. No doubt this version of the game looks like Rock Band, but it's still jarring to see. I wonder if the drums will have 5 + bass, or just 5 with orange (or whatever) being bass.

On a completely different tangent, did the male presenter speaking with the female interviewer look a lot like Joe Quesada, editor in chief of Marvel comics? I bring this up because when I saw it, it reminded me of a snake in the grass trying to sell his new product being good/better than the existing (anybody who follows Spider-Man knows what I'm talking about).

Sweet vid. Obviously its not even close to being the finished product, but the drums look good, I just hope they modernize the layout a bit, the GH scheme of things has grown dated. Hopefully it will be more sleek like Rock Bands

What we saw of the game graphics, I like them. The graphics are less sterile than what is in RB (love the circles vs. the rectangles).

Weren't those LPs with face plates? I don't figure we'll see the new ones in action until after GH:Aerosmith when the PR ramps up.

yup, and imo GH2 blew away GH1. Same company, more time to pefrect the game.

What im trying to say is, clearly we all Love Rock Band, but dont think this game is awful just because you feel like your in a relationship with RB. Its not going to break up with you if it catches you foolin around with a Guitar Hero game.

3 wasnt great, and Rock Band completley demolishes it in almost every sense. I agree, but dont act like GH isnt showing potential. Rock Band has the innovators making the game, sure. But GH has the NAME and the BRAND, which is what might attract the big names people on this site cry about.

Also, they are clearly just taking RB and adding to it. Since we all love Rock Band, whats not to like about that?

Yeah, I understand what you're saying, and I agree... I'm not gonna flat out say that GH:WT is gonna suck, but it's just hard not to laugh at their attempt to promote the game with the powers of Paula Abdul.

I know I really didn't like GH3, so seeing as how this new game's prototype's interface looks a lot like it automatically made me not like it so much. The only thing I'm really interested in is the song creation tool, and their wireless drums. When can we expect to see some wireless RB drums come our way, eh? ;)

I can't wait to see how exactly the vocals are done. That was something notably missing from the gameplay. I'm not sure if they will be able to legally represent vocals exactly like Harmonix has done with KR and RB unless they seek permission. There's gotta be a patent in play there.

I remember the (leaked) video debut of Rock Band being members of the press and Harmonix employees rocking out. Here we have Tony Hawk and Paula Abdul, who I assume are only there because the game itself in its present state is not intriguing enough.

1. It's no different. Same game, slightly different look plus some gimmicky features. Which is exactly why the interviewer said 'it's called Rock Band". Even casually interested people see this as a Rock Band clone. The guitar Hero name means little.

joking aside, i don't understand why people criticize the criticizers. they've made valid points. the gameplay looks exactly the same, all arcadey, not professional. no new features from the guitar (the non british on i believe was one of the new ones, i could be mistaken), more stars to endorse the product, and then we still have activision people peddling it like it's the most innovative thing ever.

I hate the look of GH's notes. It's like a childs version of RB. Doesn't matter. Im sure they will get screwed when people just make rip offs of already existing songs and get Activision sued like crazy. A lot of people won't about vocals and will just copy charts from DLC. Anyway, I really felt like they were trying to portray the "real band look" there. IMO, this doesn't work with a game with plastic instruments. I want to see the charts, difficulty, etc...When we have people over, I am usually watching the charts more than the individuals playing.

I will mention only 1 of my personal dislikes (there were several, but I don't want to give any ideas to Activision, seeing how it appears they come on here to see what else they can dig up) with what I saw in that video, and that's the part where I saw it say "20 Note Two Player Streak." If they show that for every damn note streak that every player gets, which seems it will be that way, well, I'll stop there.

They most likely dont have anywhere near an established, set-in-stone set list yet, meaning there are nearly NO animations done, and they are truly not far along in their playtesting.

And as far as deviating from the Style of the Franchise, did you not see the Rock Band-esque character models? It seems like they are pulling away from the cartoon-comic look of the older games, and trying to get more realistic. Like Rock Band.

And rushing a game out? They arent releasing it till October, and they are at least 3 months into devolpment. They are just starting the hype early.

I will mention only 1 of my personal dislikes (there were several, but I don't want to give any ideas to Activision, seeing how it appears they come on here to see what else they can dig up) with what I saw in that video, and that's the part where I saw it say "20 Note Two Player Streak." If they show that for every damn note streak that every player gets, which seems it will be that way, well, I'll stop there.

I will still support HMX on the PS2 by buying the expansion discs (the more songs, the better), but I won't support a half-assed port to a current gen system.

Looks like hes just concentrating really hard. Some of my buddys go into a similiar "zombie mode" when playing Rock Band or GH. (not me- I have to jump around and get crazy :D )

Yes, i love empty promises. We'll really have to see. I bet you'll have to pay an absurd amount like with FFXI on the ps2 when they made that terrible hard drive. If not, they're probably just luring you in. I mean hell, I was lured in when they announced Who's Next, so I bought Rock Band. Here I am, 7 months later. No Who. So yeah, whoever the genius is that made me spend so much money for a feature that I should have waited for before I made my purchase is, **** YOU. Just... you know, be careful. Those gaming companies lie hardcore sometimes.

They said they outsourced to another company to develop the ps2 and wii versions, so they're obviously not going to be the same as the current-gen games. It was dumb to hope for anything near to that, so really, like I've said before, put your money where your mouth is, or at least put it towards a current gen system.

In the guitar hero chart, the chord in the main riff is strummed twice, when in reality, it's only strummed once. In the tab, the chord I'm referencing is notated like this:
