I'm sure this has been done before but just post a video on what you think the Scariest video game moment is or just tell us if there's no video...

I'd say "the revealing" in System Shock 2 kinda a *spoiler* if you haven't played the game but it's pretty old and I doubt anyone will play it if they haven't

I actually just downloaded it last week. Haven't played yet though.

Dude of course we need some Resident Evil in here.

How's about that dog that shatters through the window in the original and pretty much 90% of Resident Evil 4?

I'll leave the Eternal Darkness post for someone else.

Hell ya dude Pyramid Head used to creep me out... I remember once I slept over my cousins house and in the middle of the night I heard what sounded like the scraping noise Pyramid Head makes with his great knife, I was freaking out... turned out to be the garbage cans being moved by the wind

Any Silent Hill game is the scariest moment. Those games are seriously crazy.
I've heard Eternal Darkness is pretty weird too though. Never played it myself. When I had a Gamecube, I didn't know about it.

Not the original, which is still the scariest, IMO. Your best bet is probably an emulator, but those are shaky at best. 2, 3 and 4 are all available on PC.

Me too. Maybe not to the extent of Silent Hill, but it was pretty eerie nonetheless.

I remember leaving the game paused while taking a bathroom break. When I came back, that "screen saver" effect came on, the one where the bloody handprints start appearing on the screen. Mind you that this was in the middle of the night, and all the lights were out, so I was pretty freaked.

System Shock 2 was amazing. They should remake it, make it even scarrier.

I was playing Fatal Frame one time...and I randomly throw the camera up into view and right when I did that a ghost appeared and attacked me. OMG...I about sh*t myself.

When I was little I played Resident Evil 2. The part where the birds crash through the windows in the police station make me pee a little.

Whenever Nemesis in RE3 kept crashing his fat ass through the walls always made me jump.

Doom 3...various parts where zombies popped out from shadows.

Plenty of memories from Silent Hill...almost too many to share...but one was just walking up to the iron grate in the apartments in SH2 and seeing Pyramid Head just chillin there scared the crap out of me. Silent Hill 3 is my favorite of the series. Memory of Alessa was a freaky battle...but that whole game was scary as sh*t. In SH3 I barely had my eyes open during the whole subway level only to battle demons. Seriously...anyone who is looking at getting a Silent Hill game...play the first then play the third. The final level in itself is just a sheer nightmare. Dont play it in the dark, you will die on the inside. The underground prison in SH2 was scary as all hell. I remember killing that mysterious noise in one of the prison cells...I kept shooting at it and I heard it die (some comic relief in a frightening situation).

Man I almost forgot about Doom III... that one part with the flickering lights where that guy wielding the chainsaw would appear then disappear getting closer every time made me put down the controller for a while because I was freaking out...

And anyone remember Tyrant from RE2? How he would break through walls and make people crap their pants....

But the classic RE2 scare has to be when the Licker broke through the two-way mirror

That was Mr. X in RE2...Tyrant was in RE1.

<---former RE nerd...

Funny story about RE2...I used a Gameshark once during RE2...and it glitched the f*ck out of my game btw. So there were two parts that were freaky because of this. In the police station basement in the morgue. The body locker door that swings open as you pass by it kept swivelling around and around and around...and the interogation room where the licker crashes through the mirror, well the glass never stopped shattering so it was an infinite shower of glass...

Edit: The whole eternal World War 1 in The Darkness was freaky. No Mans Land is what they call it.

Silent Hill 1...the first time the sirens sounded...I ****, pissed, and died internally at the same time.

Doom 3 would've been scary, but it just made me laugh. I played it online co-op with my buddy. We ended up saying those huge brown tentacles going through the levels were the "bowel" movements of hell. Oh, and when he went to eat dinner, I took the chainsaw and cut him up, but we had no friendly-fire on, so he just got really bloody and red. Haha :D

This was probably the scariest video game moment for me. It was totally unexpected, and in a level with such upbeat, chearful music.

Second place would have to be exploring random dungeons in Daggerfal and hearing skeletons/liches and then turning around to see them right behind me.

When I was younger it would definatley have to be RE/RE2/RE3.

More recently I would say Condemned was pretty scarey... great atmosphere and having everything be poorly lit... :P

Bioshock gave me a couple of jumps every now and then, but it was more atmospheric stuff.

I can't really think of any game that truely scared the hell out of me, other than the already mentioned games.

Clive Bakers (or Barkers) Undying was prolly the freakiest game I ever played. Even just simple things like ghosts appearing in mirrors but then not being there when u look behind, scared the crap outta me.

The only silent hill i played was 2, it was pretty freaky, but i hated the game mechanics so never finished. And I've only played like 1 demo for 1 ressie game.

STALKER was scary, but in a different way, I just found that game really engaging, I cared if I died etc

EDIT: Just realised lith's post was about undying too.

The first ichthyosaur in Half Life
Like Raider said, the part in System Shock 2 (or the first time you see your former crew members)
The eel in Jolly Roger Bay (say what you will, it still scares me)
The cathedral level in Theif

Nightmare Creatures 2...the last level on the Eiffel Tower with the creepy freakin music.

Call of Cthulu Dark Corners of the Earth has some scary parts. you really feel the horror while playing it.

Clive Barkers Undying is creapy and scary.

Bioshock has some parts that freaked me out, mostly music and lighting.

I am a HUGE fan of horror movies, so to have a game freak you out, to me, is the best thing ever. I love the fealing of fear.

There is that one part in Condemned, that is such a cheap scare, but it was great. For those of you that played it, you'll remember. Its the part where you have to zoom in really close on the body stuffed in the locker.

How about FEAR?? Completely forgot about that one... that damn little girl would pop out and creep the hell out of me
