Why is the xb360 controller still going to be wired but the ps3 gets wireless?

gh3 is gonna be wireless for 360 isnt it?

what gives?

if this is true and not going to change, im probably canceling my preorder. playing gh2 wired, and not even having the option for a wireless guitar is bad enough.

i can understand the drums possibly being wired, but not the guitars/mic

thats just a joke

I don't get it. Is it one of those 'had to be there' jokes?

Blame microsoft

They are the reason I can't remember if it what they want cost wise for access to their wireless tech or if they are just really protective if it.

But as far as I understand it the 360 bundle will ship with a wired guitar and if you really want wireless you can buy a wireless guitar separate.

You would seriously consider canceling a pre-order because a peripheral has a wire?

My god. What is the world coming to?

Yeah I know, its been mentioned countless times already, I was making a joke.

It's somethign to do with Microsoft charging for use of their wireless technology so to make both the 360 and PS3 bundles cost the same they had to put a wire on the 360 guitar with a wireless one availble seperately later on.

If the 360 version was wireless but cost 10 ro 15 dollars more I'm sure you'd be complaining about that too.

EDIT: Oh and the mic is wired on both versions too.

As above, you'd cancel your order over a wire? Sounds like the BS is coming from you! I think the wire has gotten in my way once on GHII, but that was when I was pretending to be Hendrix and playing it behind my head whilst battering a 13 year old son of a friend who claimed he'd own me (he didn't).

I don't see the big deal myself.

Not really, I wouldn't want wireless either. It's all just trouble. It need regular battery changed, and it's heavier. I don't even move around when I play GH. And I doubt you do either. Most people just stand or sit in front of the screen, blankly staring at the notes. There's never much jumping around and going crazy, unless you're on easy or something.

I'm glad it's wired, no worrying about batteries or nothing. The drums and microphone are wired anyway right? So this game has wires in any case, what's one more?

Ah yeah, I know, I was j/k., imagining an odd couple scenario with TheRocker and the OP, which clearly was funnier in my head.

Yeah changing the batteries and stuff will be a hassle, but on the plus side my kittens won't be attacking the wire as I play which becomes problematic the odd time. Or as happened the day I bought guitar hero II I leaned across to grab the remote for the tv, forgetting I had the guitar still strapped on and yanked on the wire, pulling my PS2 to the ground, which left a big burn across the disc making it unplayable. Thankfully my sis had a DVD repair thingy and it actually worked. So the wireless will be handy for idiots with no spatial awareness like me!

I'm getting the PS3 version- I'll be sure to dance around like a maniac and flaunt my wireless. :D

To the guy who's complaining that AA's add weight to the guitar: Are you kidding me? Sure, I could see AA's adding unwanted weight to a wireless mouse, but a Rock Band guitar that already weighs a few pounds?

And about hassle with batteries: If the GH3 Les Paul's any indication, expect the RB guitar to last about 30 hours as well. Playing 2 hours a day here or there should last a month on a single set. When they die, dead AA's go in a charger, full AA's go in the guitar. I have 2 tiny little trays- one for dead batts and one for full batts so I never waste any time confused which batteries I charged. It's not a nuisance at all- actually I find that being tethered to the console at all times would be the real nuisance.

I'm just getting annoyed by all the people who diss wireless and make it out to be a hassle or saying a wire is more realistic, lol... I doubt many rock stars use corded systems- why should they worry about breaking a neck when they can use wireless interfaces too?

But I can understand, $15 for a charger + the extra $20 for each 360 guitar might be too much of a pain. I'm not sure I'd value wireless that much myself ;)

He's probably never even seen a rotary telephone before, either...

Unless you're doing backflips off the couch (and let's be honest, you aren't) you don't need to be any more "mobile" while playing. And unless you've got pets of young children, nobody should be tripping over the cord.

I've seen the bassist from Skillet spin his corded bass around is body twice in one show. I also can't think of a single rock concert I've seen where any of the guitarists had a wired system, including at a rock festival.

TBH playing GH1 GH2 and 80's on the PS2 my solution to the cord was just to pick up a 3 meter cord extender. I'm sure they have these for the 360 too.

That makes the cord plenty long enough to jump around as much as you want

No clutter is also a good reason to go wireless. But yeah, kids, pets, those things are definitely safety hazards, so even more reason to go wireless.
