So I stayed up to play Portal some...but the game was rather short (only 2 hours) but it was EXTREMELY fun, and there are 6 levels that I haven't played that are considered the "advanced" levels.

Team Fortress 2 has been sucking up hours of my time over the past two weeks (or whenever the Beta was released) and it has the best multiplayer I have played in a LONG while. Everything is balanced, maps, classes, it's incredible.

The only part of the box I haven't tried is Episode two, although I finished Half-Life 2 a long while ago, I recently have gone back through the game and am about 1/2 way through Episode One (which is only about 5 hours long). I'm looking forward to this part of the box also...

The only thing that is disappointing is that I wont be able to play with my friends who get the Xbox 360 version, but the 360 doesn't have the ability to mod and have tons of user created content like the PC.

If you need something to hold you over until RB this is a sure thing if you enjoy your FPS titles...

Now I'm off to sleep since i gotta be at work in 6 hours...

I'm picking this up after work for my 360. I wish my PC could handle it, but it's ready for an upgrade. I'd rather it be able to run and just sacrifice controls than have a bad framerate.

Definitely looking forward to Portal and TF2.

Sounds awesome. I wont be picking it up till the 29th (my birthday), but Portal and Team Fortress 2 are the main reasons I wanna get it.

Dare I say it... I prefer the 360 controller to WASD. I mean if you were to put WASD players against 360 it would be over quickly, but its just more comfortable and fun if everyone has the 360 controller in a battle.

I am looking forward to this game, but I'm spending £40 on buying some white poppies to sell at school so maybe not...

What you a supporter of white poppies? They're really hard to get, but theres a small pacifist lot in the school - my school refuses to sell them, but under the support of my parents I'm gonna protest by selling some white poppies, proceeds go to the Legion, maybe another charity me and my mate (who's nicely paying for half of them - they're expensive) will decide. 50p each is fair, or a £1, what you think? They are hard to get outside of London or w.e. major city is near you.

Ya it sucks how they just ported over the xbox version of HL2 but check out the difference between HL2 and Ep2..... Ep2 looks amazing, especially the lighting effects

Portal rocked, I haven't beat ep1 yet so i haven't even touched ep2

Beeen playing TF2 beta for several weeks now...best multiplayer game in a long time in terms of actual teamwork required and usefulness of all the classes

PsycoCheerio
10-10-2007, 01:37 PM
If you have had the experience of playing with an organized team vs. not it is amazing how well the classes compliment each other when done correctly.

I think I'm gonna try to finish up Ep1 so i can check out Ep2...I'm hoping to get some Portal Maps made by some folks for PC...That game is so fun...just amazing...

I played through HL2 again recently just for Ep2...so when Ep3 rolls around I'll have to do it all over again...I think this is my 4th or 5th time through HL2...

I'm just waiting for more TF2 customs since eventaully they all end up as good if not better than the pre-made maps

It's funny I'm at school right now and there is a group of gusy behind me talking about the Orange Box and all of the Valve games in general...

My comp is almost 3 years old now, but I upgraded my GPU like 6 months ago so I can handle the newer stuff...

I have a hard time dropping like $2000 on a new comp, but I may need one coming up here sometime soon....

As far as cost of upgrading goes...

consoles>pc

But other than that...consoles dont have as much moddibility as PC does...

...consoles dont have as much moddibility as PC does...

That's why I don't 100% understand why TF2 would come out with only 6 maps on the 360...PC already has (I think) 15 customs out...granted only about 5 of them are good maps overall.

This is the one instance i think the 360 is getting shafted, hopefully Valve will be good about releasing new maps for d/l

I see...hm. Downloadable content probably...I can see Portal getting extended levels through such a medium. I've heard from everyone its short as anything, which is slightly disappointing, so DLC might come into play later, but with PC you get what would be on DLC for free.

The free aspect is awesome...and the advanced levels in Portal are quite difficult although don't take more than 5-10 minutes a piece.

Even though Portal is short it is still quite an amazing game, especially since it was going to be a final project for a group of guys from Digipen...

Yup...and it proved that FPS can be something else other than shooting people...it proved that FPS can merge with puzzle, and did so in a stunning way. So maybe we will see the likes of more Portal (sequels)?

I bought it today... TF2 is hella fun, i still got my spy stealth skills from TFC. Portal is also awesome, kind of like prey but different.

Oh yea...I'm just waiting for that song to end up on the net somewhere so I can put it on a CD and have it with me while driving...

Anyone tried any of the advanced levels on Portal yet? I've gotten around to finishing 2 of them, both relatively easy...

I made it to about room 18 of Portal, then got stuck in a room. I've been playing TF2 and HL2 since then and have yet to try the level again.

is that the room with the 3 turrets on platforms and a box across the way...

I can get to the box, I made the platform go across, but once you have the box there seems to be nothing to do with it.

It's the button that angles a section of wall, but only for a brief time, and several turrets and an energy ball. I think I know what do do, but I got stuck in the room after the wall closed back up :( I'll probably give it another go tonight, and hopefully finish.

lol I went back and beat it today... just had to walk that box through the wall. The rest of it has been pretty simple, haven't got stuck at all in the game yet cept for that one room. Not enough time to finish it yet though.

Not bothering with Orange box as I've already had the majority of it for ages and Ill probably just get Episode 2 by itself.

but yea... Half Life is definatly one of the best sci-fi FPS series, and HL2 is the best FPS period. Way better than that other sci-fi FPS that starts with H-a-l that everyone talks about.

Anyone else having an issue with Half Life 2, where the game would randomly lock up at different places?

Ive tried other games in my console to see if it was my system, and I dont believe its my system because my other games dont freeze up. I got another copy of Orange Box after returning my first one and its doing the same thing.
