View Full Version : Evolving Rock Band: Solutions for the RB 2 & GH IV fears

Obviously we are all up in arms about Guitar Hero IV. The drums look sweet, the new secret guitar sound intriguing (read game informer for info) and all the features we have been dying for will be in the game. In other words, I thik some one in the other camp has been reading these forums. Anyway, I thought we could list some smart solutions that would help Rock Band one owners not have to make a costly upgrade.

DLC
Rock Band 2 must obviously support all DLC or a small riot would occur.

Drums
I think this is the easiest to improve. I'm thinking it would be smart if HMX just made an add on to the drums. 2 symbols on bars that attach to the metal posts on our current drums converting them instantly into a 6 piece, screw Guitar Hero, kick *** set. Plus it would be less costly then buying new drums.

Guitar
The only thing I see as a real problem is the guitar. If Guitar Hero really is introducing something revolutionary as opposed to some over hyped feature, that would mean Rock Band would have to steal their approach or innovate themselves. If they did that, you would have to have a new guitar model.

At this point we need some kind of trading program. We send our guitars into HMX and get a new one for just a few extra bucks. Yes I know we could trade it in at Gamestop but it would be nice to get more then $5 when they turn around and sell it for $40.

Bass
Introduce a bass peripheral. That'll one up GH too.

Asides from that, do you guys have any ideas of how HMX could minimize the impact of an upgrade or how to roll one out?

What ways would you suggest they evolve the peripherals?

GH4 is stealing HMX's idea with the ten fret buttons....they're a bunch of thieves! If you go to the website, you can see a shaded out image of the guitar and it looks a lot like the stratocaster in terms of shape and the ten fret buttons....i mean they cant even come up with original peripherals they have to copy HMX just because they're losing. Neversoft should stick to Tony Hawk games and stop copying.

Onn a side note, I actually like the way their drums are made...they look cool and the whole velocity sensitive thing is pretty innovative, but the fact stands that they made thi game because of HMX and Rock Band.

Damn. I forgot about the whole sensitivity thing on the drums. Maybe we do need an all new drum set not just an add on. I might be willing to fork over $100 if Rock Band 2 was a new disc and had a killer new hit sensitive, 4 drum, 2 symbol drum set.

I'm torn, add on for drums are cheaper but a whole new drum set may be better. Any thoughts on what you guys would prefer, new drums or an add on?

As for the guitar, I thought it was just a rip off but GH told gameinformer they are trying to patent their new secret guitar lay out so I figure there has to be ore to it.

Congrats!!!

You just hit the 1 millionth "GH vs. RB" post!

Its kinda like the publishers clearing house, instead you dont get a cash prize.

You just get beaten to death by a troll flame-stick. Grats!

The only improvement I can see that the guitar would need would be a touch screen strummer instead of a switch: less to break. Think like the DS second screen for a strum. Actually, considering Activision just did that for the DS GH, I would be willing to bet the farm that a touch screen strummer is the secret they want to get a patent for.

What if its a light sensitive one? Where if the light beam is broken, it counts a strum. Id buy that shizzzzzz
