Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I was thinking about the idea of including some live albums/songs in the DLC. Granted, not all live albums are great, and a lot of songs don't sound as good live, but there are some classic albums like At Fillmore East (Allman Brothers), and Live At Leeds (The Who), as well as other great live songs.

Since the recent article with the venues mentioned wanting to give the feeling of what it's like to be in a band, why not offer a live version of a song that you can play at Bay City Theater (which is apparently inspired by Fillmore West).

Just a thought.

Good thought IMHO.

Since they're going by master tracks for most everything, I'd guess it bears asking... can you get master tapes from a live performance?

On the flipside, you might not have a "perfect" performance by each band member during a live show, or post-production effects to clean up the sound.

It all depends how you record it. If they recorded all of the mics to their own track then this is totally possible. The obvious difficulty is that live recordings are inherently of lower sound fidelity (different mics, bleed from other instruments, crowd, clipping, etc). It would be a chore to clean a live master to the kind of sound we're used to hearing in the games.

An example problem: when the crowd cheers because Roger Daltry is spinning his mic and you can hear the bleed in the other amps. Of course, your bassist has failed out so nobody should be cheering, so you end up hearing a little bit of crowd, just enough to break the mood.

If HMX could pull it off it would be AMAZING.

Im pretty sure KISS Alive! used master recordings of each track. I would love to see that one, and Live At The Filmore East (allman brothers band), Although it would be kind of a drag for the singer, with all the jamming

"One More From the Road" Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's got everything. Commanding vocals, awesome guitar/bass(I'm lookin at you Travelin' Man) and the drums are pretty good as well.

I'm gonna go ahead and say that live is completely out of the question. It's just not technically possible. The outcome wouldn't be much better than just using an MP3, which pretty much defeats the point of the game.

The game's audio includes crowd sounds
When a real person is on the mic, you've got live vocals (which may be a good or bad thing)
You can adjust the guitar sounds to a degree with the 5-way switch
Freestyle drumming sections
Freestyle whole band jam at the end of songs
If you're playing with other people in the room, they're probably cheering you along

How much more "live" do you want this game to be?

Nine Inch Nails Live: And All That Could Have Been is my dream DLC album. Doubtful it'll happen, but it'd be so sweet!
