View Full Version : Finger Training for GGaHT Solo 2

I'm working on Expert guitar career and have at last made it to the infamous Green Grass and High Tides. After working on it for a couple days I can consistently get to 80% through, and my best with a good overdrive timing was 95% through. The major hurdle that I can't get past is the Wall Of Constant Sextuplets at the end of Solo 2.

I think my problem is that my ring finger and middle finger like to move together. It takes a bit of effort to move them so that the middle hits a note and then the ring follows with the next note. At the playing speed of most songs this isn't a problem since there is enough time between notes for the fingers to act independently. Not so for GGaHT's ending.

I end up blurring the second and third notes of each triplet figure into a chord. As you can guess, effectively hitting at most 33% of the notes (the first out of every set of three) isn't going to cut it in that section for very long.

Any suggestions for finger training exercises that might help me develop finer control over those two fingers?

Only thing I can suggest is to use your pointer, middle, and ring fingers (no pinkie) for that last part. Tilt the guitar up to 45-60 degrees too (for some reason you can go faster that way). Keep working at independent movement and you should get it down. This use to get me, now I can consistently see 4x during quite a bit of that run.

for the zig zag part i keep my finger on the first note and use my ring and middle finger for the other 2 notes so i only need to concentrate on hitting two notes. This does take some muscle but i found it to be less work actually. The ending i just use the solo buttons while holding the first note on the non solo area, theres no point trying to get it non solo style, its possible but its just unecessary effort, especially when the game was designed with solo buttons in mind.

if your having trouble i would say just try to do it with the solo buttons to get past that section.

there are 8 OD sections in between the 86% part and 95% part, just gather 4 and burst away! 33% of finde, if u got solo buttons just mash all 3 as fast as possible without looking at the chords and you will make it thru lol,

When that part comes up, put it on pause. Place a rubberband around the "low note" the one closest to the tip of the guitar. and then use your pointer and middle for the other two notes.

Keep your fretting hand on the larger frets and hold the lowest note(yellow?) keep it depressed for the whole sequence. Have your strumming hand work the solo buttons. You'll need to assign a finger to the orange solo fret. Now with your finger held on yellow just go back and forth with the blue-orange. So your holding the yellow [BIG] fret down. And pushing the blue [BIG] fret AND orange [solo] fret in correspondence to the chart.

Assuming you're not a lefty:

Left hand:upper frets
Yellow (hold)
Blue(tap)

Right hand: solo frets
Orange(tap)

hum.. that's an interesting pull-off method, i stll find it easier to just finger tap the whole damn thing with a full OD bar, i usually can manage 4x till about halfway when my concentration fails me, one day ill fc that part!

I did that the first time I beat it, I just wanted to get it over with. I've since gone back and beaten it without a rubber band, increased my score by about 80k actually between those two runs. I'm using the GH2 Xplorer controller, so I figured my lack of solo buttons justified my rubber band...

i think lots of people including me had this problem, but you know what? If you just keep only playing that song for a reely long time, youll eventually get it, like i did.
