... but how about some more funk-oriented stuff from the 70s? EG...
I can't believe I'm opening myself like this.. but listen to this...

Might Harmonix be able to get the rights from EMI/Universal for some of Olivia Newton-John's stuff? Specifically a few tracks from Totally Hot and - I think- Soul Kiss? I know it may seem cheesy at first glance... but interesting how it's held on through the years...
EG Totally Hot (the one linked above)...
... Deeper than the Night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-d_Y0cjTtg&feature=related (good fuzz guitar work, fairly straightforward drumming, and good hammerons for bass)
... Heart Attack - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB4Jemg0g74 - good one for drums and bass...
.. Please don't keep me waiting - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sjSCPdHi8I - good percussion groove and breakdown..
Landslide has some quite intricate bass work... - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OlWUBX1jj-c
Fuzz guitar is low down in the mix - but there...

You. Me. Parking lot after school.
I like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBGIQ7ZuuiU) song better.

And here I was thinking the youtube would link to a video with Bootsy Collins in it.
I liked some of her songs. Lets Get Physical was catchy, and so was the theme from Xanadu.
If I had to pick a poppy 80s chick band to have a song pack, it'd be the Go-Gos, easy. We Got The Beat, Head Over Heels, Vacation, Our Lips Are Sealed.. man, they should be in RB already.

Belinda Carlisle for straight rock - like a lot of Mutt Lange's stuff - agreed.
Yep - whack in some Bootsy as well - but for good percussive playing at higher levels... I think it might have even been an Aussie take on P-Funk...
Didn't Chank Nolen develop that choked guitar style driving the track under the horns?
Granted, a lot of Farrar's stuff is keyboard-led
Just that some of us grew up on ELO and ONJ... it sounded as though it could have been good early-to-intermediate-level stuff. Good to learn laying down a solid groove.
Just MHO...

Shut up! :D
Yeah, yeah - my brother told me about Rick-rolling...
Seriously, though... when you had some good instrumentalists behind female vocalists... and you can't get the sodding tabs anywhere..

Admittedly - I grew up more on funk than rock...
