Will i be able to get DLC in the European Store if I get the US version of Rock Band. The current dollar-value is insane, and even with VAT and shipping I'll probably be cheaper off by importing it. I just need to know if I will still be able to enjoy the DLC later on...

Just wanted to know are you getting RB on the 360 if so is your XBOX a EU console. You have to let us all know if an import of RB works on a EU/UK console as I am wanting to import it also. One last thing where will you be importing it from as all the places I have tried have said they will not send the game outside the US. Thanks.
When the game is out officially in Europe I think the DLC would work fine, you could just create a US account & buy points off ebay (you can get 4000 ms points for around £24) this is what I do as it works out cheaper. Also get the added bounes of more DLC choices on the US market place then ours, you can really tell all other gamers outside the USA are just after thoughts in the games industries mind.

Unless you have a US console, I don't think the US version of Rock Band's even going to work for you. Localization and all that, never imported a game myself, so I can't be sure.
Concerning the original question, I'm pretty sure that it will be linked to the US store, just because it's the US version of the game. Mind you, this is all speculation, but it's the best I can offer.

The PS3 is region free for games so unless developers region lock the games themselves the games are region free. I've never imported a game myself (Rock Band will be my first) but there's plenty of people on Irish message boards that have imported almost every game they have for their PS3 and so far all have worked.
In terms of paying for the DLC, a lot of people have been unable to use their European credit cards on the US Playstation Store, it needs a US based billing address, much like iTunes, so if the DLC is sold through the PS Store, then you probably won't be able to purchase it.

well, i can only attest to xbox live, but you think maybe it goes by the region you select for your gamertag? I had a buddy who made a japan XBL account simply to download a demo that had only come out in japanese regions.

Many Xbox 360 games are regionfree, like Bioshock, Project Gotham Racing 4 or The Orange Box.
But it depends on the developer. Let's just hope HMX makes the 360 version regionfree!! If so, it will work on every Xbox.
But don't know about the DLC either. EA probably won't release DLC on the European Marketplace until the game is actually out in Europe.
Maybe it will work if you create an US account, not sure though. Hopefully someone can tell me that later.
Don't know if the European content which is released later will work with the US version of the game, but I guess it will.
Anyway, we can just wait and pray that it will work.

I would imagine HMX making it region free, unless they really want to push region specific DLC. and if that region specific stuff ends up being european bands i've never heard of, chances are i wouldn't have bought it anyways. If it ends up being a major enough band to license, why waste it in only one market?

I've no problems downloading demos and trailers from the US Playstation store. (Ratchet and Clank demo today! Yay!) but it's when you try to pay for things that problems arise. Visa doesn't seem to work, apparently people are having better luck with Mastercards, but not everyone.

Mastercard use to work Sony have since closed that loop hole so you cant set up a U.S account to purchase stuff with it anymore, if you already had one registered then it still works.
in regards to DLC i can only speak for PS3.. it may not work there are those that have U.S versions of games and when they tried Euro DLC it wouldn't install.. problem is although HD is worldwide and works perfectly fine SD doesn't there is still the PAL / NTSC issue and since the DLC has to support SD it wont be compatible as the EURO DLC would be looking for the PAL version of the game.
The only way around this would be either HMX host the DLC themselves and allow those outside of the U.S a means of purchasing it or those that import would have to purchase the Euro version of the game when it's Released.

Thanks for the info, glad I set up my US account when I did then! I think I'll just have to buy the game again when the European version comes out for the DLC, I'll have plenty of songs to keep me busy until then anyway on the main disc, though I want Baba O'Reilly by The Who soooooo bad!
