That's so stupid to do. You can buy the 3 songs for $3 total, and not waste $10-$15 on the CD. You can get the songs off of Limewire, and, contrary to popular to belief, DOWNLOADING SONGS FROM LIMEWIRE IS NOT ILLEGAL.
Pretty good sucker deal though.

Um actually in the United States pirating music through Limewire is illegal (not in Canada however). Not to mention you aren't supposed to talk about piracy on the boards, and the offer was for Disturbed fans that weren't getting the CD anyways. Some people like owning CDs. I do, nice to listen to in the car.

First of all, Limewire (the last time I checked) doesn't get revenue from advertisements, and the artists whose music is being downloaded don't make money. Therefore it is illegal. Again, I haven't seen the program being used in about a year.
Second of all, some people actually like supporting the musicians they enjoy. Apparently you're not one of those people.

In a nutshell, Limewire and similar "peer to peer" or p2p file sharing tools (BitTorrent is another popular tool) are perfectly legal and there's no prohibition on distributing the applications or having them on your computer.

File servers are legal, downloading and uploading copyrighted materials are illegal. Two separate things.

They're referring to things that aren't illegal to download. Like people's copyrighted works. Like Disturbed's music.

Why pre-order the CD? Well, if you have Rock Band for Xbox 360, you like Disturbed, and you would have bought the CD anyway whether there was a promotion or not. Not all of this applies to me (PS3, iTunes user) but it explains why some people pre-ordrered it. :)

I have read up on several things in the past that no matter what it is, it's "sharing" files, and because it is so hard to control what people do with these files it's legal, or something. All that crap. Whatever.
