View Full Version : What's the likelyhood of this being region-free?

Are us Aussies going to be thrown a bone these holidays, or do I really have to wait until next year to get my Rock Band on?

If it is, I'll order it right now (hell, might even get two copies...bit worried about my little sister bashing right through those drums :p ), but being that EA Almighty is publishing the game I fear that I'll be left to trawl forums and Youtube, playing the game vicariously through the "OM6Z0Z M3TT&L1CAZ 1Z T00 HaRDZ!!111onezorz!!" threads and videos of smartass little children 5*ing away to The Who, Sabbath, and Mr Bowie himself.

Please lord, let there be Rock Band.

Amen.

All PS3 games are region-free (apart from downloadable content, that is to say you won't be able to use any of the online functions if you use a US disc in AU), I don't know about X360 though, sorry.

Highly doubtful as the game and the DLC are localized.

Certain 360 games are region free and certain ones are not. I don't think anyone knows yet if Rock Band is one that is. I wouldn't get my hopes up though.

It might not be region-free because it has localized DLC.

The rest of this is to satisfy our restrictive forum software gods. Pay no attention to this paragraph.

Wouldn't the localized DLC be dependant on your Xbox's settings? As in, I have access to the AU marketplace, therefor can access AU content. Some people have their settings so they can access the US marketplace, and can access US content. I don't think software locality effects that.

There's a reason for it to be localized (probably ****ty but a reason) so I suspect they'll do anything they can to enforce it so even if you could access the DLC the disc itself will still be region-free.

Sucks to be in AU this holiday.

Typically EA games are Region-Locked and Activision games are Region-Free. Unsure why. That said, they've confirmed GH3 is going to be region-free, and I fully expect them to confirm that RB is region-locked in the next 4 or so weeks.
