The "Official" I Hate Eric Gagne Thread

Seriously, WTF is wrong with this guy?! I'd say he's washed up, but he's not even that old.

We cannot count on him for jack sh*t. We bring him in in a blow out game, and he still lets in runs. Why the hell would we bring him in for a tie game? He's gonna screw us over right out of the playoffs.

I'm gonna be pissed if he's back next year, what a waste of time and money. I think all of Red Sox nation would have to agree.

I should probably go more into it. Yes, he's a Cy Young award winner because he had something like 50 or 60 saves in a season. Yes, he holds the record for most consecutive saves. But, he's been screwed up permanently ever since his surgery. That's what ruined his career while he was in LA. He's done with, and he's only gonna screws us.

But anyway, there's a difference between annoying and dedicated. Most people respect not only Red Sox fans, but Boston sports fans in general because of their dedication to their teams. I'm simply expressing how disappointed I am in Eric Gagne.

idk you guys act as if your team has been the greatest for the past 100 years even though they've only been good for five. yeah same thing can be said for every team's fans but sox fans go to almost notre dame like levels. cubs are bad too but you feel sorry for those guys cuz the cubs are actually likeable

Whoa whoa whoa. I think you're mistaking real Red Sox fans with fake ones. Also, mistaken for Yankee fans. The problem is, the Red Sox are becoming the new Yankees. You watch TV and see like 5 different commercials with David Ortiz's face on it. Everyone and their mother are becoming Sox fans. And that's how it always was with the Yankees because they were good.

The Sox are finally a good team pretty consistenly each season, which in turn attracts fake fans that jump on the bandwagon. It is only said fake fans that go around saying how great their team is. Even though they weren't supports through the crappy times.

Real Red Sox fans have experienced all the heartache and pain we go through every year. For a Red Sox fan to boast how great we are is just ignorant. I never do such a thing. And the ones that do are giving the wrong impressions. Such as the impression you have of us. Come to Boston and talk to some real fans. You'll understand that we're really not douchebags, just those fake ones that jumped on the bandwagon.

I'm only 21 but I can remember getting decent bleacher seats for 10 dollars. Now those tickets are approaching 30 dollars. Most of the fans that have jumped on the bandwagon are the the wealthier people in New England and can afford to spend 100 dollars on a box seat. They only go because since 2004 it has been the "cool thing to do"

I feel bad for people such as myself who have followed along with the Celtics and have been to a few games over the years but the entire season at home is about sold out with the additions of Garnett and Allen. Obviously, people are going to flock towards a team that is more successful or predicted to be successful, and those are the fans that you are referring to BAOD.

Maybe the Bruins will be the next to turn the corner.... Ha, now thats funny! :D

Much agreed JQ. I've been going to Celtics games for years now. Even through those Rick Pitino games, and crap. Now I don't think I'll even see the Celtics this year :(

The thing about Gagne is he's going to go to another mid-market team next year and be someone's closer. Maybe even someone like Cleveland cause Borowski is a god-awful closer proving that Saves are the most overrated stat in baseball. And he'll have a good year.

Maybe some people just can't adjust to being a set-up man. He certainly wasn't good as a starter in L.A before becoming a closer. Oh well, time to ride the arms of Timlin, Delcarmen, and Okajima in the set-up roles.

A lot of the times Francona has a loooong hook for Gagne, I was actually surprised they took him out when they did. But he still shouldn't have let up those 2 baserunners.

On a bit of a side note did you see that Dusty Baker signed with the Reds. He's a nice guy and all but he ruined the careers of Mark Prior and Kerry Wood by over pitching them. I'd like to be the first to place an obituary.
