In a hopefully more effective attempt to bring obscure artists to the forefront, I've decided to condense all my pointless rambling into one thread. This is Better Know a Rock Band.

Every day or so, I plan to give some information on a lesser-known band and link to a few tracks by them. Yes, most of these bands will be from my personal collection, but I'm not against suggestions. The purpose will be twofold: One, self indulgence; I'll want to see a lot of these bands for DLC, which is why it's in this forum. Two, I hope to help people broaden their musical horizons. There's so much music out there, and if you just take the time to listen, you might find something you never thought you would like.

Anyway. Today's band is Brother Firetribe (http://www.brotherfiretribe.com/start.cfm), a group from Finland that bills themselves as "easy rock" but is much closer to delicious 80s rock. It's an offshoot of the much more popular band Nightwish, featuring guitarist Emppu Vuorinen as a regular member and Anette Olzon on guest vocals. The vocals are strong and make great use of harmonies, and though the band is born of Nightwish, it sounds absolutely nothing like them. The tracks I'm about to link are from their 2008 release Heart Full of Fire and are a good mix of ballads and rock anthems, including one track, "I Am Rock", whose title says it all. The playlist can be found here (http://www.imeem.com/people/P-F1YP2/playlist/7R9Lq3Tc/brother_firetribe_music_playlist/) and includes "Heart Full of Fire", "Chasing the Angels", "I Am Rock", "Heard It On My Radio", "Who Will You Run To Now?", and "Game They Call Love".

Feel free to suggest bands you'd like to see featured, talk about the band currently being better known, or tell me how much I'm stealing from Stephen Colbert.
