Potential Delay in Canada...

Because of the French packaging??!!

Harmonix, just send me all of the copies of the game.

I will write the French name across each box. I will use a Sharpie to do so, but I promise it will look really nice.

Just make sure that this game is out up here on the same date as it is available in the US. It would kill me to see all of my US buddies on the Friends List playing this game, without me being able to rock out at the same time.

Yeah, I don't see why we don't get relay shipments from the states in the completely English speaking provinces. I'm from BC, even though I live about an hour drive from the border, it'll still be a hassle to go pick it up.

As for linkage, it was posted earlier on in some post I forget which one. It's a potential reason for delay but it seemed like speculation. I hope it comes on time, because I don't plan on going south of the border for Black Friday this year...

Actually there aren't any completely English speaking provinces as there are francophone's throughout Canada. But as EVERY video game which is sold in Canada must have bilingual boxes and not something new that has just recently sprang up, HMX should have had this planned out and taken care off from the get-go.

i read this too and its annoying. Like someone else has said its a pretty piss poor reason too. Its not some law that just sprung up last week. How could they not know this and plan ahead for it? I agree it must be a pain to add the step of another language but they surely should have had this planned from the start.

I have it ordered at EB Games and they dont even know the price yet (you would think pretty much the same as the US due to the close dollar but im sure they'll take on $20-$30 just for the hell of it). The lack of any information is quite concerning considering there is a solid price and rls date for the states. Having said all that the US release date is still 6 weeks or w/e away so lets pray for some info before then.

Still im only an hour from the states, might have to pull a road trip !!! Wonder if i'll get my $10 back from eb games for the pre order !!!!!!!!

There are a lot of my peers that have some false sense of entitlement, and as a Canadian, the drama they cause pisses me off. ;)

Your french friends have the false sense of entitlement? I can see that. Some of mine do as well:p And I'll defend my county (Canada) before my province (Quebec) anyday, but the fact is Canada has two official languages: English and French. Therefore, french people are not to blame, but either the government for their laws, or HMX for not knowing them!

Seriously guys, I wouldn't worry about it too much. We had no problems at all getting the 360 GH2 on release day, and my rather large packaging came in french and english...It's just some reporters opinion that it could possibly cause delays, but I don't expect it to.

Actually I was at this same event covering it for another website, and I asked the same question. My question was specifically to the effect of "Can Canadians expect the game to go retail on the same day as America?"

The answer from the Harmonix rep was something to the effect of "We can't make any promises, but we're shooting for close to it."

And he did cite the French language on the packaging as a *possible* factor in delaying the game, but from what he said, it looks like Canada getting the game on November 23rd is not locked down as a certainty by any means.

Ok...I'm calm now. I know it was a joke, but still...this isn't the place for that. I was born in Ontario, but grew up in Quebec and still live there. The rest of my family live in Ontario, and none of them or people they know seem to hate the french, so I guess it's just the rednecks. Ontario is a little like the States like that...

The french tryed to vote themselves out of the country so no that's not like nazi's at all. The rest of Canada didn't try to kick them out. Should trade them to the US for Alaska. :p

You're almost right, however, being french isn't a political view. Being a sovereignist is. While probably most sovereignists are french, there are some that are not. So, if French people wanted to seperate Quebec from Canada, it would have happened because there are alot more french people than english, so that is not the case (duh!)

And, yes...more blame on EA or MTV than HMX I'm sure.

Either way, I'm sure this will not be the case..I hope!
