View Full Version : A great idea for DLC

Someone mentioned sort-of this in the features wishlist thread, but I thought it was cool enough to warrant it's own thread.
So, we know that HMX are planning to release DLC of full albums as well as single tracks, but what if, along with the album, you got more like a 'boxed set' of content that included the songs but also the artists' signature clothing (KISS outfits, AC/DC schoolboy pants,) and instruments with the bands logo - like Keith Moon's 'The Who' drum kit along with Who's Next, etc - maybe even add faces and hairstyles to the character creation set. That would add a ton of value to justify what is seen as a high price for the DLC tracks to some, and would be a great way to play through a whole album by one artist.

I was one that threw that idea out. I like the idea myself. Playing through a "concert" of music from the same artist using their equipment, stage set-up, likeness, etc would be cool. From simple setup's of old (stones) to the much more extravagant (kiss). The history of rock..and you get to play.

Pretty cool idea actually...signature guitars/skins/outfits/gear would definately be a nice little bonus to downloading a full album off of DLC. Plus, it'd help keep the HMX art division in business too, not just the music division.

I agree it's a pretty cool idea, but I don't think it should be included with the song downloads. My main reasoning, is people are already complaining about how much the songs will potentially cost, and it seems like a LOT less work to just add a song into a game, whereas designing new clothes, and fixing them into things seems like a bit of a hassle. So I think it'd be nice to have, but sell it separately, or as some sort of package deal.

I love the idea. This kind of stuff is plausible for occasional/big releases, but for Harmonix to release new DLC every week, they would have to model instruments/clothing pretty fast. I am not a 3D artist, and I'm sure it takes a lot of work, but who knows?

I'm taking a 3D course, and my teacher says that once you've had a lot of practice, you can pound out something good in less than an hour.
I, personally, can make a teapot almost instantly[/injoke]
