View Full Version : I *almost* played GH3 last night... (Shudder)

I turned on my X-Box to play RockBand, and there was a splash screen for a Motörhead pack. I was seriously tempted. It was 500 points to buy, and a decent selection, but fortunately sanity kicked in when my friend asked if he could play the drums to it when I bought it. I snapped back to reality, and said "uh, no, GH3 is only guitar." His response of "Well that's lame" made me forgo the purchase.
So, if HMX is listening - how about going and talking to Lemmy and see if we can't get some Motörhead in RockBand?
My pick for a Motörhead 3-pack:
Ace of Spades
Going to Brazil
Deaf Forever

This is the first month ever where GH3 will have weekly content too. It will be interesting to compare. I'd say week 1 is a tie...maybe a slight win for HMX. Motorhead is awesome and beats Buffett, but when you include Disturbed its not as clear.

I have been tricked into buying songs for GH3 only to be extremely dissapointed. They just do not do a good job with the note charts. The on discs ones aren't too bad but the DLC I have bought for it always pisses me off in the end.

i hate how they have the 3-pack. their Foo Fighters and Velvet Revolver packs, i would've grabbed a song or two, but didn't want them all, and not paying for useless stuff. #1 reason why their DLC fails in my eyes.
as for GH III, i haven't played it in months, but it does get fired up once in a while, mainly at my brother-in-laws. i'm a huge In Flames fan (Take This Life), Disturbed Stricken is a great song, and Bulls on Parade rocks. other then that...............nothing there to grab me.

I like guitar hero. It was a fun game. But it's past tense for me. Guitar hero was the game required for Rock Band to come out. I just can't wait to see what Rock band was a game required before something better comes out. But yeah, DLC of guitar hero 3 all well and good, it's just not as full-fledged as DLC for rockband, you get more in RB. If only these rabid evil companies would get along instead of trying to hog exclusive content.

Guitar Hero 3 was fun. It wasn't a horrible game. It was a enjoyment on my Wii system, but if you wanna compare it to Rock Band then it got GH got B**** slapped.
I love the drums and the guitar has always felt like I was not even playing some remotely similar to a real one, and their campaign mode? Sucks compared to Band World Tour. Beaten their campaign mode in one day and yet to complete every venue in BWT.

I was a GH fan...
I did play it again last night.
I hate the guitar and I hated 90% of the tracks on the game.
This event lasted about 10 minutes.
I am not sure what happend but I used to like GH. I even used to like the guitar that came with it.
I think i will stick to just playing RB.

2 of the songs in that pack are available for cheaper on Rock Band though. I don't know if it's worth paying that much for just one song. But whatever floats your boat. :p
I bought GH3 in March, partly for a second guitar and partly to check out the game. I'd heard of all of the complaining. Personally, I found it to be a mistake. I had problems with the neck. It made me buy another Strat for Rock Band instead, which despite complaints on these boards, I've found 100% reliable (though the clicky fret buttons and the squishy strum bar are mildly irritating). The songlist just wasn't as good. Some of the songs were good, but it didn't have the sheer number of goodness for me that Rock Band does. The charts weren't very good to me. I got annoyed by Neversoft's sloppy programming in certain areas.
I don't own the game anymore. I never bought any of the DLC. I've spent quite a bit of money on Rock Band at this point considering the extra Strat, DLC, and customizations for my instruments, but I feel it's all worth it.
I will say GH3 was worth it for a couple of things.
1) Muse. GH3 made me a Muse fan with Knights of Cydonia. I still owned GH3 (but was actively trying to sell it) when the Muse pack came out but I never bought it, knowing I didn't like the charts much. I instead bought a Muse CD from Amazon. Far greater purchase, IMO.
2) It satisfied my curiousity in seeing how someone other than Harmonix would handle the series. I don't have much confidence in Neversoft handling it. Mostly for the charts, but for other reasons too. They're catering to an audience I'm not part of. HMX serves my gaming and musical desires much, much better.
3) I used to have more respect for Red Octane, but when I took apart the Les Paul and saw the bad construction of them, I lost some respect. They made some poor design decisions by having a removable neck, and then doing it the way they did. Also that guitar has given me a painful callus that hurt worse than anything my steel string acoustic guitar has ever given me. And that's just darn sad.

A co-worker was trying to sell GH 80s for $10 USD. I didn't buy it from them because I tried playing GH2 on my PS2 a couple of weeks ago. I realized how badly spoiled I've gotten from the much higher resolution Xbox 360. The PS2 graphics look fuzzy and hurt my eyes a little now. I feel like I'd rather have those songs on Rock Band. I did buy The Hellion/Electric Eye and Synchroncity II for Rock Band. What else was good on the 80s game? Truthfully, I haven't heard a lot of those songs in that game. I am game for new songs, but I haven't gotten around to checking them out yet.
Edit: Looks like I know Round and Round and Turning Japanese from the titles other than the 2 I mentioned above (well, and Ballroom Blitz, but not that version), but that's it. I am ashamed of my musicial knowledge right now. I feel like I should know more.

I liked Caught in a Mosh and the Iron Maiden song on that game also.
I played GH3 last night for motorhead and then a couple other songs on it...I prefer rockband now. (mostly because of the drums and DLC i have I think the GH3 has better guitar song selection out of the box)

I DID play it. God of War song. Thought they started to get on the right track with the charts but I question it now with that mess....and I only played it on hard.

When I got guitar hero III for christmas I thought that it was the most wondeful thing in the world, BUT once I got rock band I thought otherwise. My rock band disk got scratched up recently and I have been forced to play GH3 ever since and it isnt just the same. It is dissapointing isnt it. I always look over and see that poor little plastic drum set and get so sad.:(:(:( I will be overjoyed when I get a new rock band so I can stop playing GH3
