I'm assuming that many of you are familiar with The Madden Curse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madden_Curse) that has plagued players who got their mug on the box of the annual videogame franchise.

This year's football athlete: Vince Young.

So for those who was watching the games yesterday this probably comes as no surprise...

He still could bounce back from this and things could get better for his team. Still, it's good knowing that some superstitions never change.

Blasphemy! lol. I don't care what he does for the rest of his career, I'll never forget what he did in the national championship game against USC. Greatest single performance I've ever seen.

I wouldn't say this is the "madden curse" striking, he's only day-to-day. When he suffers an injury 6 weeks or more or his team loses 8 games in a row, that'll be the curse.

I've never really got the Madden curse.. isn't injuries in NFL generally the rule rather than the exception?

Yeah, but not every player gets an injury every year. Some go years without them. For some reason, bad luck seems to follow those of the cover of the Madden games.

Could be worse... they could have selected Michael Vick for the cover again. :D

Kinda. But the folks that put Madden together always pick a peaking star or a player on the rise in the NFL, and to be either of those in the NFL, you need to be fairly injury resistent, so almost all players chosen for the cover of Madden don't have a history of major injuries. And almost overwhelmingly, it seems whoever gets the cover suffers some sort of long-term injury throughout the regular season that same year. It's uncanny. In many cases, the victim of the curse is never the same player again. Major NFL stars like Peyton Manning have publicly stated that they will never agree to be on the madden cover solely because of this.

I thought Young was going to be the one to break it honestly...and I drafted him in my fantasy league this year. He's turning out to be my only mis-fire in my draft...erg. Oh well, still doing pretty good...just gotta find a new QB...
