Ok I want to start this off by saying I love playing Rock Band. I enjoy it and want to support the game, but I'm really getting sick of being lied to. This game has become the king of Bait and Switch, and downright False Advertisement.
And no, I'm not going to rant on my feelings about the HMX Band DLC, Mother Hips, this week's unknown crap. I'm going into specific promises/"strong hints" that the company gave us prior to release, that they've NEVER fallen through on, yet don't ever comment about to make sure people keep buying it.
Let's start with what spawned this post. WHO'S NEXT. Anyone seen this album pack yet? Man I was just playing Baba O'Reily the other day and.........OH WAIT. Now if the masters aren't there, the masters aren't there. These things happen. But what isn't acceptable is the flat out refusal to comment on it. I would respect HMX more if they had the balls to say "Look. The Masters aren't there, and we don't want to spoil it by releasing less than stellar covers." But do we get that? Nope. Why? To make people keep buying.
Oh I'm sorry, we did get an announcement on it. (Paraphrasing) "For everyone waiting on Who's Next, expect a major announcement soon." Soon? OK cool. Next week, the week after...a month....now on to two months? Anyone see an announcement regarding the Who? Do we have that awesome Who music after EIGHT MONTHS??? But let's keep silent on the issue.
How bout another one? You know, those 18 Grateful Dead tracks that were hyped. Let's count shall we? 1..2...3...4..5...6...SIX GRATEFUL DEAD SONGS!! HA HA HA!!! And how long has it been now? Any announcement on the rest?
Or what about the "Career spanning Metallica?" Hmmm....three songs. Yup. That definitley qualifies as "career spanning." Especially since we grabbed them from a whole 2 albums. OH WAIT!! We MIGHT be getting the first single from the new album, you know, in October. Emphasis on MIGHT, because you know HMX can release songs by people supporting Guitar Hero, and with GH: Metallica coming out, we couldn't possibly hype Metallica!
Hey you know that great Online World Tour we promised? HA!! That was a good one!! Oh and remember how we said for months PS3 guitars would be compatible? DAMN THOSE PEOPLE AT ACTIVISION!!! You know, because they were such A-Holes over the XBOX 360.
Oh here's another good one to tell people. Let's go and let the world know that we have the rights to Nevermind, and use it as an example of Full album DLC in every interview, and then when everyone questions where it is....TELL THEM WE NEVER CONFIRMED IT!!!!!!!!
Oh I got another good one. How about we go lax on our RMA policy, just so that everyone mentions how great we are. But as soon as those peripherals are available solo...MAKE THEM FORK OVER THE MONEY!!!!
Enough is enough HMX. OPEN YOUR MOUTHS. Let us know what is going on with RB2, Who's Next, SOMETHING!!! Of course, with their track record, I'm going to take what they say with a grain of salt anyways.
