View Full Version : How about HMX make a poll for DLC?

Well I just thought of this and maybe its a good idea (maybe it's not feasible) but what if HMX one week, made a poll for its DLC?

Like HMX goes around and get a lot of possible bands for that particular week's DLC and then make a poll with the different options for that week. We all choose what DLC we would like by voting and then at the end of it they pick the most voted one. In particular, I think this would be great to do with an album.

I mean it would make most of us happy (because presumably it'd get the most votes) and then they'd get MORE money from the DLC (presumably the people that voted for that DLC would most likely buy it).

They wouldn't do this every week because I do understand the importance of obscure stuff or indie stuff every once in a while but it'd be nice to feel that you have an influence on the DLC.

This is actually an alright idea, but Harmonix would need to make sure they do it right. If they were to do this, than they had better be absolutely certain that the bands in the poll would be absolutely willing to license their songs to rock band. other wise, that could mean an unfulfilled promise and a lot of upset players. However, if they were absolutely certain that they'd all be willing, then if the runner-up bands did well enough in the poll, Harmonix wouldn't have much of a reason not to release them in a later week.

It would also take longer then a week to make and produce the songs, so it would have to be for many weeks down the road....

But a general poll to gauge interest on which bands to pursue might be nice....

I'd love a poll but it wouldnt work simply because this board doesnt even make up half of HMX's customers.

But wouldn't that mean they would have to CARE about what we wanted???

I think the only way anything like this works is they put the poll up with a month's DLC and we choose what order we get it. That way we'll know when we're dissapointed and be less dissapointed cause we'll know when we'll be happy.

Also it wouldn't gaurntee to make the most people happy.
For example if the options for the week are:
All Right Now by Free
Rock Show by Blink 182
Danger High Voltage by Electric Six
and
Dance,Dance by Fall Out Boy

So let's say out of 100 people voting,30 vote for Fall Out Boy,20 for Electric Six and 25 each for Blink 182 and Free. That's 70% that don't want Fall Out Boy but it's what we'd be getting so most are still unhappy.

Just so we know what is feasible for them to get.

Given what they can release (in that scenario) then yes Dance Dance by Fall Out Boy would be the best one. They'd in theory maximize DLC because even though it's only 30%, given the other options, they produce less revenue, because they have lower revenues (but again there are definitely a lot of holes in that theory). MOST people are going to be unhappy always but by doing this we could maybe minimize the amount of unhappy people.

I think it would work better with like a full CD DLC and something to be released in the farther future (for feasibility reasons).
