*We just got to word that Activision and record label Interscope Records stroke a deal that will give video gamers the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Companion Pack. The said expansion is a compilation of the regular version of songs that can be found in the game's track list.
It will cost US$ 13.98 and will be available on October 23. Aside from that, the CD also comes with a special code than can be used by Xbox 360 owners on Xbox Live Marketplace to get three additional Guitar Hero III songs.
There is no word, however, if gamers on PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii will receive a similar offer. Without any ado, here are the selected songs included in the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Companion Pack as well as the DLC for Xbox 360 users:
Soundtrack
Miss Murder by AFI
Kool Thing by Sonic Youth
3's and 7's by Queens of the Stone Age
Cherub Rock by Smashing Pumpkins
Slither by Velvet Revolver
Cult of Personality by Living Colour
Prayer for the Refugee by Rise Against
Devil Went Down to Georgia by Charlie Daniels (Steve Ouimette rendition)
Guitar Hero III Intro by Slash
Bonus DLC
Carcinogen Crush by AFI
Tina by Flyleaf
Putting Holes in Happiness a Marilyn Manson song remixed by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs

9 songs on a CD?
I hope this move is an epic failure. Bundling exclusive songs to sell their crappy merchandise is just terrible.

QFT, whatta rip. And if anyone really wanted to? $1 per song on iTunes, save about 5 bucks. And those bonus songs to play for GHIII, not worth it.
I'm a 360 user, and I still think it's BS that they won't be available immediately for other console users. I'd be insulted if I owned a Ps3, even if I didn't want the songs.

Acvtivision contunues to rip off whatever loyal customers they still have. I'm buying the GH3 bundle and that's it. I won't be buying any DLC for it.

I agree, it's not really worth it at all if you ask me.

Oh well, maybe PS3 and Wii owners will get to buy those extra songs for $14 online....
And what's up with their selections for that cd? None of my favorites from the GH3 tracklist are there.

The only thing decent about the Manson song was the music and some Yea Yea guys is gonna change that? God I wish the would have picked something from a different Manson album.

Limewire gives ytou lots of viruses, torrents have the most chance of getting hunted down and sued by the record companies.

No, My friend lives in Canada and now his internet provider is watching his downloads because he download a lot of anime and songs. Piracy is illegal everywhere, you're screwing companies out of money. It IS a crime. As for using torrents for download backups of games that have been scratched really bad or music cds, even movies. I don't see anything wrong with that because you payed for it.

Piracy is just stupid anyways. Why risk getting sued out of hundreds of thousands of dollars when you can just take 20 bucks and go get a CD from your local music store...

I use LimeWire and Warez and I've only gotten a virus once (and that's cause I accidentally downloaded an EXE that had one.)

9 songs and 3 crappy extra songs for the game, meh, not worth it, and i'm sure sooner or later they will put the three extra songs as DLC cause not many people will want to spen 14 dollars for 3 extra songs

Ack, one of my friends keeps ranting over 'rockifying' country songs is blasphemy, compares changing Devil Went Down to Georgia into a rock song is like replacing The Clash with any random boyband-bastard from The Backstreet Boys and NSync. Add insult to injury, make sure Timberlake's one of them.
