Hi,

got a Roland FD-8 hihat pedal from my edrum ( http://www.roland.com/PRODUCTS/EN/FD-8/index.html )

I was wondering if you can use it with RB?
Tested it but only some notes were registered.
Could it be that my adapter (6,5? to 3,5) is defective? Or does it not work at all.

That hi-hat pedal won't work with RB. The reason is because it's not a simple on/off switch, which is what the kick drum pedal needs to be. The FD-8 is a pedal that allows varying degrees of "openness" for your hi-hat control.

This is why cheaper e-drum hi-hat pedals will work, but the nice ones like the FD-8 will not.

search sigler_music (seller search) on ebay. It is $39 and works great. There is also a thread on the main forum called "electronic drum hi-hat pedal" with many comments and reviews.

The next thing you'll possibly want to know is, hi-hat pedals totally suck as a kick pedal. If you're just wanting something sturdy, then throw a metal plate on top of the stock V2 pedal and call it a day (and try not to stomp on the hinge pin). If you want something more realistic, rig up a real kick pedal with a practice pad, or the beater turned around. Some dude around here is selling one pre-made for you called the destroyer pedal.

Right. Anyway, here's a thread on the topic.
