Ok so this is a question/idea I though of the other night. Is there any way to not have two different in game avatars if say I am playing bass and also singing? Because then it would truly reflect My Band .. .i.e If say the Bass player or Drummer or Guitarist choses to sing as well as play I feel it should reflect in game at what ever venue you are playing really immersing you deeper into the game. Is there any way this could be included in a future update or patch or something? I really hope so!! What are your thoughts on it?

Not currently possible. Perhaps something they'll arrange for the sequel.

A very popular idea, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it in a sequel. But it won't be in the original, and it's probably just a touch to hard to add in just a patch. Anything's possible, but I would bet we don't see this until RB2 if even then.

^ Absolutely. Where as it may add to the realism of the game. I don't think that its going to happen at all.

Gotta Motion Capture someone doing the instrument and vocals. Not only that, but you have to add the "attitude" as well (rocker is different from punk, etc). It's a lot of work, but hopefully something they'll do in RB2.

I think I'm missing something, but isn't this exactly what they've already got in the game?

The reference is to a singer who plays guitar (or bass) at the same time, instead of showing a guitarist and singist separately on-stage.
A la the power trio.

Ok I get you, Motion Cap singing while (Drumming or Guitar Playing) at the same time. Sorry a bit of a brain freeze there.

I agree with you, you'd need to have a 5th motion capture session for all "attitudes" that would be playing the guitar while singing at the same time. Very unlikely to happen in anything short of a sequel/expansion pack.
In theory, there could be some way to combine motion captures for singing with some of the guitar playing, but I really don't see it realistically working out. Most of the motion capture they've done so far involves the characters dancing, jumping, and just in general flailing around. Playing an instrument and singing would most likely involve playing in front of a boom mic, and it's just a different set of movements involved.
Interestingly enough, the easiest combination of motion captures would probably involve a drummer who sings at the same time, since the drummer doesn't dance around. Fact is, you rarely see that in real life for a very damn good reason. Playing guitar and singing can be tricky, drumming and singing is just painful.

I Don't know you have Don Henley from The Eagles, Phil Collins of Genesis, Ringo Star of The Beatles, Dave Grohl of both the Foo Fighters and Nirvana, Keith Moon from The Who and that is right off the top of my head of music I like. I think it can be done on all instruments plus it would be a cool unlock or achievement if we do it kinda like the lefty flip in GH2 and you get the Hendrix award. It shouldn't be that hard just a little more time.Don't get me wrong I am not saying it wouldn't be a challenge (especially to people who have never really done it) but it would be loads of fun and another chance for re play ability :)

Well I said it would be "like" or akin to just an example that is all:) Depending on what you play at the same time it would give you the award i.e Bass and Sing or Guitar and Sing.
