Just got it today and there's false information:

While the exact details of pricing and packaging for individual instruments remain under wraps as of the time of this writing, we did manage to get a confirmation from the game makers on a price of their most extravagant package. For $200, you'll be able to get the game, a guitar, a set of drums, and a microphone for either the Ps3 or the Xbox 360.

It then goes on to talk about the wireless situation and the USB hubs and stuff.
But where did they seriously get this confirmed info of $200???

Read my comment below, there was more new info, I just overlooked at first.

Game Informer has had some false info on Rock Band many times before, it's not that surprising to me. I don't think they really know what they are talking about most of the time. This was also probably written before the official price was announced.

I understand if they guess at the price. But they actually said "a confirmation from the game makers"

Wait, how could I miss this! New info!!

Once your band is decked out, you'll head out and start performing gigs. For every performance, the number of stars you acquire will go toward unlocking new venues and songs. Sometimes you'll have mystery song sets that come in as requests, and at other times, you'll arrange your own set list or simply choose individual songs.
We don't like the fact that you end up having to repeat songs you've already played in order to get enough stars to progress, but it certainly extends the length of the game, for better or worse.

GI goes out the door too fast to be really accurate at times. I blame publishing not writing.

Thats awesome, so how good you do helps you progress in the game. I also like the idea of getting song/setlist requests as well as getting to make your own, World Tour Mode is going to be so much fun!

I like that new info. Sounds really cool. They say they don't like having to play the songs over again, but once you go through them all, the only thing left to do in a rhythm game is to replay the songs over again anyway. It's nice that some song replay value is incorporated into the career.

That info about "getting stars to unlock new songs and venues" isn't new.

It was in last month's game informer actually.

we also knew about possible "manager's requests" where you could get incentive based tasks.

Then why didn't you post it?! Or did you? ;)

Xzyliac

Even better is when your DLC is thrown into the mix. By next summer I think the request will really feel like an extension rather than a random setlist what with all the choices.

Eman311

I didn't post it because it's one useless little piece of info that was hinted at already anyways.

Exactly.

Trust me, I'm on here enough, if I saw it, I wouldn't have posted this. But from the responses, it looks like other people didn't know about it either.

I'm not knocking you marty, moreso i forgot to post it that chose not to.

Xzyliac, I wouldn't guarnatee DLC mixing into that part of the gameplay. I'm sure it would require some extra programming HMX may or may not want to do.

I don't really like Game Informer's magazine, being so off on several reviews and game features. This is why I don't like video game magazines. They give you false info way ahead of the game since the magazines come out a month before the actual game does.

I only got it for my Gamestop EDGE card.

I can't really talk too much crap on them, this magazine was the first time I ever saw anything on Rock Band. :)

I also recieved my GI and I have NEW news that Mrty overlooked..

At the bottom, it reads:

"Of course, whether you're playing on a Microsoft or a Sony console, you'll still need to go buy one more guitar for the four part experience - presuming you don't already have a compatible guitar from Guitar Hero II or III"

Not to be a naysayer but it sounds like speculation considering they didn't even have the price point right.

I fully expect it to be compatible or else I will probably kill someone from Neversoft. I want the full band experience and I will not settle for the half-assed Xplorer.

They do the same thing in Stuntman: Ignition (great game btw). I think its a great idea, and its not too far off if you are getting 4 and 5 stars along the way.

Thanks for the news Marty.

The X-plorer kicks the ass out of every guitar out there, that's why I'm not gettin the Les Paul. I'm just using the X-plorer for bass :D or maybe I'll use the stratocaster for bass...

You'd better not.

Eh, I guess I'm the only one then. I'm a big fan of the feel of the SG, the Xplorer was too awkwardly shaped for me and overall felt more clumsy. But that's just me, I know there's a few people out there who actually like it, but I'm definitely going to get me a Les Paul after all the comparisons to the SG. But Strat is still number one in my book.

I saw how they mentioned GHII and GHIII, but figured it was crap anyway cuz they got the date wrong.

And yea, I'm also one who will buy GHIII Game only, and no Les Paul. I shall use my Xplorer for GHIII, and Bass for Rock Band.

I'm not shelling out over $100 for a bundle with a guitar that I'll only use for less than a month, and then throw it in the corner to collect dust.

Yeah at the end of the day Strat wins easy.

This may have been already confirmed, or whatever, but I'm seriously tired, and I'm too lazy to search for it.

Page 48 I think, with the "Which Next-Gen Console Is For You?" thingy, they list some of the best exclusive and non-exclusive titles on each console, including Rock Band for the Wii.

Again, this IS Game Informer, so you never know, it may have been a thoughtless addition, but they've been known to be right ONCE in a while.

And regarding the compatibility between the Les Paul and RB, I'm guessing they happened to have an LP floating around on loan from RedOctane when they got their preview copy of RB.

I'm one of the opposites :D

But that's because I started with the XPlorer and played the SG afterwards. The SG just didn't feel right I guess.

I'm going to have to find a new guitar to get used to...Hopefully it'll be the strat :)

I disliked the Explorer compared to the PS2 Red Octane guitars. The whammy was really awkward to use, and it was lighter and smaller, making it all around hard to adjust to. Maybe if you started on an Explorer it wouldn't feel so foreign, but after having played exclusively on the PS2 for months beforehand, I was definitely feeling the differences every time I used it.

I'm hoping that RB is programmed to include DLC in world tour mode. So if yOu buy The Who's Who's there you can get a song request for a song you never or rarely play just to challenge you.

MartyMcFly
10-17-2007, 04:28 AM
Exactly. It's all what you are used to. I started with an SG, and the Xplorer seemed weird. Then I played the Xbox version for a looooong time. Then went back to Ps2 for Rock the 80's. I had to get used to the SG all over again.

I started on the original B&W SG. I owned a red and black GHII Gibson and a third party wireless Flying V.

I still like my X-Plorer above all.

The xplorer is poo... sg still had way better buttons and slide action in comparison. The buttons are too raised on the xplorer for my taste. Plus the whammy bar sucked.

Thinking about it I play with the Whammy pointing away from me so the looseness didn't bug me. It felt really good for me.

The complaint I have is the ****ty strap but I have a real strap to remedy that.
