Hey guys .I have been reading the threads for quite awhile and really enjoy the site and info i get about the game.Saw something no one else had posted yet and thought it was time to register. In this months Oxm[official xbox mag]it states that ac/dc is coming to rock band or guitar hero soon. The article is on page 88 in the bottom right. It reads"Led Zeppelin.Van Halen.AC/DC.These are the bands everyone wants in Guiter hero/Rock Band. One is finally about to sign up.Which one?Hint:"for those about to rock..."."hope it's for rock band because i think singing it would be a blast.Cheers.

Lynyrd Skynyrd
Iron Maiden
Stone Temple Pilots

Heck even the Disturbed/Buffet week was pretty mild, as opposed to last week, which was a sheet-storm.

If it goes to GH and not RB, I might just go out and buy GH3 for 360 just so I can play AC/DC. Ive been waiting since I started to play GH2 a couple years ago to play some AC/DC. But I really hope it comes to RB so I could play every instrument. AC/DC rules!!!

No, I'd be more excited about a Honest Bob pack than an AC/DC pack probably. Their songs have all been quirky and fun. I'm not at all completely averse to hard rock and metal (I grew up listening to a lot of it but quickly grew out of it), it's just that AC/DC have never floated my boat.

I think it depends on the song.
Something like Dirty Deeds would go to Rock Band, as it's an entirely competent song that would be no one's first choice.
Thunderstruck would go to Guitar Hero, as the entire opening is just aching to be charted into finger porn.
Back In Black and You Shook Me All Night Long....they'll probably be saved for GH: AC/DC, or at the very least as an on-disc track for GHWT or RB2.
Besides all that, it's AC/DC.....if it's not Big Balls, color me underwhelmed. Bring on the Honest Bob 3-pack!

Did you look at the main setlist for GH?
Smashing pumpkins, RATM, Pearl Jam, Guns N Roses, Slash, Tenacious D and more so forth. It is clear that HMX can get big name bands, as they have a lot. I just think when you look closely, you will see HMX has more "big bands" solely because of the DLC.
What happens when you compare main setlist only? You may see that GH actually has as many big name bands, if not more. HMX does a good job of getting good DLC, but at the same time, they do a good job of not getting good dlc. The Rock Band setlist (DLC included) does have more big name bands (not necessarily better), but they also have more TOTAL songs, and more HORRIBLE songs. Its a toss up as to who will get this one in my mind since we dont have any info on it, but to rule out either side completely would be foolish.

I own both games and have all the dlc
for both and gotta say i like my rockband selection much more.No one has mentioned that 2 of the last 3 big names gh3 got for dlc had major issues.2
of the 3 def leopard were horrible live versions and the motorhead 3 pack wasn't exactly a best of compilation.I like both games myself and hope for tons more dlc for both. One last point i have is do you think the bands ever[or will ever]look at both games and say that we should give or fans the full experience rather than simply guitar play.I know i would want my music out on a platform that showcased all the members of my group and not just a guitar.[yes i realize that gh4 has all instruments, just saying for now.]

Where did this myth that Activision gets all the "Big Names" while HMX doesn't come from? Disc-wise, you have to say that both games have about the same in terms of "Big Names". GH had Alice Cooper, GnR, RatM, and Pearl Jam, while RB countered with Rush, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Stone Temple Pilots. Also, I think RB did a great job at getting the "Iconic" songs for most of those Big Names, while GH didn't do quite as good a job in that respect (The Seeker vs Won't Get Fooled Again? No contest).
DLC-wise, no contest whatsoever. While many want to include Muse as a "Big Name", I'm sorry, but I don't. Boston, Jimmy Buffett, Grateful Dead, Stone Temple Pilots, Lynard Skynard, Rush, KISS, Metallica, Judas Priest, Motley Crue, these are "Big Names" in rock. GH has given us Linkin Park, No Doubt, Def Lepard (really bad versions at that), Foo Fighters, and some single songs from bands RB had also released DLC for. And no, I don't consider Mastadon, Avenged Sevenfold, or Velvet Revolver "Big Names".

Totally agree with you.i am totally fine with the groups and song choices most of the time.Gh3 dlc is in the same hit and miss boat and has more misses percentage wise to me anyway.Even the good bands dlc on that game is marred with obscure song selection[motorhead]or brutal recordings[def leopard].Great job harmonix.

I did not include on-disc songs at all. This was just a comparisson of DLC. Guess I should have mentioned that.
Darknessmoon, you're right, I did forget Muse in the RB section.
The thing is this, I was not comparing pure numbers in terms of DLC, I was comparing what games have the big names attatched to them in terms of DLC and are thus likely to continue the relationship with that game.
It seems the assertion that HMX is not able to pull in the big names for their product. I think I managed to put that assumption to rest. It doesn't matter how many "crappy" (only in your opinion, others think that everything released for RB now is wonderful) songs are released with these big bands, the point is that these are bands that have put their support behind HMX's product.
On top of this all, DLC licencing (from what I understand) is that much harder than on-disc licencing (hence the reason why the discs are loaded with big names, but the DLC has a mixture of big names and up and comers).
I know this won't stop the whiners, but my hope was to put to rest at least some of the complaints concerning the "lack" of big names in RB
