Okay here's the deal: buying a new electric. My original idea was to get a Firebird but everybody talks shìt about Gibsons. Naturally the first suggestion is Fender but EVERYONE has one and I wanted to stand out. Anything that plays just as well, same price tag as maybe a Strat, and looks good too?
Up until now my semi-acoustic was fine but I want to upgrade. What should be taken into consideration when buying an electric?

Preferred weight, tone, neck width, style, and things of this caliber come to mind.
K, you like Firebirds.. and strats if i read this right. You could go for a tele. But again, Fender. There are reverend guitars. My friend has one and hes been playing for a few years and he gets his there because they are of course good. I'm not thinking rigtht today, so there is surely more.

I love my Dean. You might want to check them out. at least go to a shop and sit and play one for a few minutes. I love the ML79.

Well I played the Strat, Les Paul, Firebird, and X-Plorer 2 weeks ago at Guitar Center. I liked the Firebird the most. I forget the series.

Yeah, especially because you liked it over the others you played.

Alright.
Okay amp suggestions?

the amp depends on what you're going to play, and how loud you need to be. what size shows/jam sessions will you be doing?

Hmmm...good question.
Outdoor shows and basement practice space. Don't play indoor shows much.
If it helps I use classic sharp distortion alot but Wah once in a while too.

You can never go wrong with a Marshall head and a Marshall 4x12 cab.
"Rock and roll is a Gibson guitar through a Marshall amplifier."

at least I think that was his quote.
that being said, my guitarist just replaced his peavey head with a marshall tsl head, and the thing is frickin' amazing.

Well, my personal favorite is the Gibson SG. I highly recommend it, an absolute dream to play.
However, I also suggest Hamer. They're great for quick playing (They are a Metal guitar afterall). I have a Hamer Slammer and it's just a beauty.

Lots of great choices it seems. I may go back to Guitar Center and experiment more.
