Went out in Santa Clara last night with my friend from EA:

None of the terrible bands you guys are asking for (ie Linkin Park, Tool, DragonForce, Green Day, etc etc) are going to be in the game!! They hired a "music advisory board" for a reason. To keep terrible bands out of the game. My friend at EA Redwood City showed me a copy of a memo/press release from EA in which the developers were able to list bands they would not approach to be in the game, and I'm happy to say that none of the bands I listed above (and the vast majority I've seen on this board) were listed under on the "do not include" list.

So, basically you can keep suggesting these terrible bands all day, week, month, or year, but if the developers can't stand the band, they're not going to slave over a note chart for the game.

Hopefully he is deffinately lying since i really wanted some green day for at least some DLC.

I'm sure it's a load of crap! Don't they wanna sell discs or DLC? Then why not use bands that sell a lot of albums???

Yeah first of all there would never be a "press release" from EA that basically says "these bands suck," that would just be stupid. And why would EA bother with internal memos about these things when people at Harmonix pick all of the songs?

I completely agree. For one, Tool rules, and secondly, why would EA Redwood Shores have anything to do with Rock Band? I am not sure if I am totally right, but isn't "EA Partners" working with Harmonix to publish this(like they did with The Orange Box?)

Not just Tool, all those bands he named have some good songs. Hell even Green Day. Just some kid trying to be "cool" over the internet.

Knowing HMX's taste in music, I wouldn't doubt they don't like Tool.

I'm not a big fan of those other bands but even people who don't care for Tool that much don't dismiss them as "TERRIBLE"

The guy is full of it, there is no way he has any of this privileged information. And I highly doubt that any band would be off limits, but there are most likely some that are highly wanted compared to others.

I'm fine with everything except the whole "Tool is crap" thing.

um... no.

Yeah, I remember an interview with HMX after Guitar Hero 2 (very probably in EGM) where they said they tried to get Tool in the game, but the band got back to them too late... so methinks they likey.

You gusy are seriously crediting this guy something?

He does not have a "friend" in EA

Not only that, any HMX employee I believe can make a suggestion for a song, which then gets passed to the advisory board. I highly doubt out of 150? plus people not one of them loves Tool? They're one of the biggest bands right now.
Not only that, avoiding those bands would be cutting out one HUGE segment of people that will buy this ( 14-24 year olds who like modern bands)

The music advisory board must be pretty blind if 'Celebrity Skin' managed to slip under their ****ty music radar.

hey guys, been lookin at the forum for a while and just decided to post now. that guy clearly has no clue what hes talking about. although i wouldnt really care if those bands werent on dlc for a while at least. if i had to pick one band and album that i wanted for dlc it would be Appetite For Destruction by GnR.

Amen to that. Appetite would be an awesome DLC album. Welcome to the Jungle. Out to Get Me, Nightrain, Mr. Brownstone, Sweet Child, Rocket Queen (second part of that song would be awesome) and Paradise City. Rock - the way it's supposed to be.

Please Harmonix, make it happen.

So let me see if I have this right...

If NONE of the bands listed above (Tool, Green Day, Etc..) were listed under "do not include" then that would mean they are on an "include/wish" list?:p

Obvious BS on this guys part in any case.

100% pure B.S. Man, that's one of the most ignorant things I've ever read, and I'm not even talking about the trashing of talented bands for no apparent reason.

I've been following Harmonix for quite a while, reading the blogs and learning a lot about the people that work there, and I can say with complete confidence that they would NEVER draft a press release/memo to list bands that they think suck. It would literally never happen. They are all extremely knowledgeable about music and love all different kinds. More importantly, they have genuine respect and appreciation for ANY musical artist. There is not a scenario in this world where that memo could exist.

I personally like Linkin Park and there are definitely many LP songs with strong drum and guitar parts. Green Day is also very good. Therefore, I don't understand why people would get mad if these bands were included through DLC, if they don't have to download it why should anyone care, as long as Harmonix makes money, seeing as LP moves millions of physical records, (i.e. not downloaded), why wouldn't they want to include them in their game. Anyway, I hope that these bands' songs are all included through DLC because I believe that many people will buy them. :D

It's okay to say Captain and Tenille.

ARGH! I wish I could strap that effer down and force them to listen to Linkin Park, Tool, DragonForce and Green Day, every song, all at the same time as loud as the speakers would allow. That'd teach him...

Then truthfully you don't know too much about our taste in music. We are some 130 or so strong. If you think we all have the same unified taste you crazy. I, for one, love Tool.

EDIT - And that anyone would think there would be a list like that is crazy. No list. Totally BS. And the guy who posted that over at GS is a very sad case.

Well, we know the guy is full of it, it's just annoying how certain people will go to lengths to piss on someone's musical tastes.

All you have to do is look at past HMX games to see that a list like that is bull.

Don't get me wrong, I already bought the game and I'm looking forward to it immensely, but I'm just hoping stuff like Made in Mexico can be left out in favor of more metal or something.

And I realize you guys don't all have the same taste...that was a stupid thing to say...I just am not a big indie music fan...and I understand that there are people who love that stuff and want it in the game just as much as I want Tool in the game. Did not mean to come off as such a *****.
