I was in the Ultimate Setlist forum earlier today in the "Post 1 Album U Want in RB thread" and I posted the Ramones-The Ramones. In my expination I said "solid punk". An unamed user had to come in and say "its not punk". Interestingly enough his choices was a Clash album. Granted I didn't respond very maturely, but anyway The Ramones ARE punk. How can you say The Ramones are not punk? They were one of the leading bands in the punk movements! They inspired every punk band to date. They are the definition of true punk. The unamed user also claimed they were a beach boys rip off. Well try to tell me that this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=OYqlszAVGTI) sounds like this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=L--cqAI3IUI). Really what else can they be? Let me direct you to the Rock and Roll hall of fame. (http://www.rockhall.com/inductee/ramones)Also I am prepared for someone to say wat about Surfin Bird and Commando and dudududu by the Ramones? They sound Beach boy-ish Well they were covers. Please think before you talk.

he's got a point but he is wrong the ramones are punk but they aren't the Definition of "true punk"!

Their songs just don't have the the attitude of most punk bands. They just play songs really fast. and that is why they are considered a forefront of punk for playing really fast.

So yes Leftover Crack is wrong The ramones Are punk.

but I would never buy a full ablum for DLC it would be boring he is completly right when he said "The Clash" Album for DLC. only problem is 15 songs is a little much

The clash > The ramones

Well, I don't agree but I respect that.^

I was only trying to Give justifications for both sides of the argument

but at the same time my personally opinions on who I belive Greatest punk band of The Three originators The ramones,The Sex Pistols, And the Clash.

I just find the Clash more musically and lyrically interesting

But I do listen to all three and have that album you suggested by the ramones. they are still a fun band to listen too

I wonder why no one else agrees? I also challenge you to listen to more of the complicated ramones songs. They had talent. Also how are the clash reegae?

ahahahahahahahaha
you realize the Ramones are always mentioned by punk bands as very influential, and lets see, the Sex Pistols were before the Clash, so was MC5, the Velvet Underground, Iggy & the Stooges, and I hardly can consider most of what the Clash put out as punk

and you also think RATM is punk..... its really sad

how are they punk and the Ramones not?

The Ramones:)

If what you sing about defines your genre, Lynyrd Skynyrd sing about wholesome ideas and belive in god. Does that make them christian?
