I was watching a GHIII video where someone presented the GHIII Wii controller. The one with the wiimote inside. Personally, I dislike the fact that the wiimote is visible, and I hope you can put a faceplate from 360/PS3 version to hide it. But I thought of something else. The Wii guitar is very different from the others, because of the use of the wiimote. And maybe that's why a Rock Band Wii has not been announced yet. They are waiting.

HMX wants to make every guitar controler compatible with RB. For 360, that's easy. The Xplorer and the Strat' are just hacked controlers. The Les Paul will surely be similar too. But who knows how works the Wii Les Paul ? I think HMX waits to see how Wii LP works to be sure to make a RB version compatible with it and announce the release.

So, what do you think about all this ?

The reason it uses the Wii Remote is just that, the guitar is basically a shell that goes around it. It works just like any other Wii Remote. In the end a Rock Band guitar for the Wii will probably do the same thing, just use the Wii Remote, it saves both time and money and is convenient for all Wii owners. It is also guaranteed to work for the Wii and would work for both Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

I'm not sure why Rock Band is not coming to the Wii yet, especially after it has come out for PS2. They must be trying to work out something, maybe it has to do with DLC.

I'm pretty sure there are multiple reasons. Choose some or all of them. None of them are intended as a knock against the Wii, so let's avoid a console flame war in this thread.

* Trying to coordinate instruments, software, etc on 3 platforms is bad enough without adding a fourth.

* The platform has unique features and elements which need to be accounted for.

* They haven't done a release on this platform before, necessitating additional time and resources to learn it.

* Online play is a major feature, and Nintendo's support of this is limited.

* A year ago when they were setting out to do Rock Band, the Wii was still pretty unknown and unproven.

If I had to make a best guess, I'd predict a staggered release similar to the 6 month gap between GH2 360 and GH2 on the PS2. It's anyone's guess really.

I hope they (Nintendo and HMX/Neversoft) can figure out a way to sell tracks through the Wii Store.
