View Full Version : Anyone in favor of making an "Online Quiters" list?

EDIT TITLE: "Quitters" list (I know, I know)

So, I get tired of playing with bastards that quit mid song because they're doing bad or people that disconnect as soon as they load into songs that they don't like.

IF YOU SUCK AT A SONG JUST STICK IT OUT! Don't make the whole band fail becase you wimp out and quit. If you can't play on Expert or Hard then don't pick Expert or Hard. I (and I assume most players) don't care what level you choose to play on - as long as you play well on said level.

I say we make note of the gamertags and personas of the players that quit out. That way when they show up in the quickplay pool we can swiftly kick them out.

All those in favor...?

Not so much. Earlier today I would've been, but as someone explained to me, not everyone who leaves the game has quit. Apparently, many people have not-so-great IP's, and don't really have a say when their IP kicks them off. I've never lost a connection, but perhaps Comcast is a good IP (I don't know how, they're really cheap where I live).

I do hate people who leave early, but there's no way to tell whether they left because they suck or because their IP sucks.

But I could be wrong. Any other opinions?

actually alot of players boot kids who don't play expert, i guess they need to see the gold stars they cant carry over anyways

anyway we used to have some dolt who would make a new thread every single night he played to list people who quit on him....it was very self righteous and very annoying.

also circumstance can make me lenient on some quitters, if you play me on ranked and I get the same person 3 times, and I keep winning i certainly wont blame them for quitting once the song starts on the 4th time....

also that aside HMX wants the forums to be constructive. though they are more lenient of the hmx hate threads they tend to be much more stern on keeping people from negative threads about other users.... if a list were to exist it would most like be removed, since it would be a glorified "A-hole list" which have already popped up and been removed in the past (haha although I don't quit I did make one ahole list that came out...i was very proud :D )

It'd be really unfortunate for people like myself, as the previous poster mentioned, I'd done some stupid things in the past and my ISP throttles my download speeds at certain times of the day. Not to mention that they just randomly cut off service whenever I go over an unspecific allotted KB number.

It can be really frustrating to be cut out of a song just like that, the other night I was playing Paranoid and it cut out on me during the Big Rock Finish.

I never quit mid song.... but I have left before when the song selection screen comes up and there is absolutely no DLC to choose from, or someone is picking Welcome Home and I have already played it like 4 times that night.....

Does that make me a poor gamer?

Leader picked fallout boy doa last night and I exited out.

Add me to the list. Add me to every list ever made cause I will never play that song again!

My motto on xbox live is No RB DLC=No play...
I downloaded the DLC songs to play with other people who are really into the game, like I am, I have no interest in most of the originally available songs, I am looking to play DLC songs with other people who have honed their craft much better than I have..... if I quit, don't take it personal. I play Drums by the way. Hey Harmonix, how about a filter for non DLC players????

Hearing about online quitters makes me love having the PS3 version of Rock Band even more. For the amount that I've played "competitively" online (excluding Band Quick Play, obviously), I have never had a person disconnect since they were losing. Hell, I had a guy who I KILLED on the first round play me two more rounds and also lose those two by a mile. I ended up quitting just because it wasn't really much of a competition.

It's one great thing in regards to not having Achievements that people act cheaply to get or "Skill Ratings" that people care so much about for whatever reason. Just playing competitively just to face off against another person...no other strings attached. Makes online quitters practically non-existent, at least for me, when playing online.

hahaha well remember these moments because sony is getting that trophy system soon and then you can get ready to see kids quit and act immature in your future games as well... :D

although the easy way to not have the problem is to just play with friends... then you dont have kids quit on 360 because you know what they like and can just voice chat with them. (yeah throw a little mud get a little mud back :D )

Am I a bad person for liking the idea of an A-Hole list?

I guess I can think of at least one other person who put people he deemed "a-holes" on list...

A list of quitters, so that the tiny fraction of people who use these boards can... avoid, take heed?

Not sure the point of this ... lol

The only problem with that is, what about the people who lose connection for some reason? It's not fair for those people.

I've never quit a match(or lost one), but I have gotten a negative review about quitting early, which made no sense to me.

I used to be in favor of a list like that, but it's kind of too risky to blacklist someone over something like that. They could take it as slanderous, especially if they didn't quit early. So I wouldn't even bother with something like that.

I can see why itd be tempting to have a list like this, but like other people said, unless you can see what's going on with the other person its hard to tell if they're being jerks or if they have a legitimate reason for bailing in the middle of a song. I never quit songs because I'm losing or whatever, but I have lost my connection midsong, and there have been times where one of my kids has needed me for something and I've had to drop what I'm doing. I love Rock Band, but sometimes other things take priority. Unfortunately.

there are just better things to do with your time...really, there is. Don't let that person waste more time than they already have by quitting the song....

And I will say that if you pick Timmy, I will quit. I echo the sentiments of another...in that case, just add me to the list. That song is so ridiculously stupid and if I'm going to struggle to keep playing on a song, then at least I want it to be a song I like.

I have a feeling the Trophy System is going to be setup a bit differently than Achievements are...but only time will tell. Devil May Cry 4 had "Accomplishments", which will be the equivalent of Achievements...but no number value has been assigned to them, etc. I have a feeling Sony is going to have some type of system where certain Accomplishments earn you a Trophy OR you must obtain a certain amount of Accomplishments to earn a Trophy and maybe the more Accomplishments you obtain the better the Trophy you can showcase, etc. So...if you get 100% Accomplishments for a game, you will have the "ultimate" trophy for that game, etc.

Either way...I guess your point stands, haha. Just figured I'd elaborate.

But the beauty about the list is that we can see repeat offenders. That 'I just have a bad connection' excuse only goes so far.

Let's see....

I've spent over $150 on DLC... when I get into a game and I'm not leader and the leader goes to Welcome Home, Enter Sandman, or Foreplay/Longtime having NO DLC, not asking ANYBODY what they want to play, or giving the SLIGHTEST **** what others think... I wait for them to pick their instruments, and I quit.

I quit once and a while, mainly because they pick a song I don't want to play AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN on like Easy/Medium/Hard.

Annoying..

Hey Harmonix, how about a filter for non DLC players????

The problem with DLC player filters, is you'd end playing a lot of people who only have Still Alive.

exactly and to filter to only the people who have the same dlc as you would mean you would most likely only play with the same few people.... say you have 63 dlc songs, you'd have to find someone with the same set of 63, otherwise if you say its unfair to play with people that don't have dlc, people will all the dlc could say the same of you who only half of it..... its not a system that would work well in the long run.... the best way is to find friends and people who have the dlc before you even play.....there are countless website where people can list the dlc they have and find other players who play the different instruments

Okay, there's of course a lot of gray area here, but there are also clearly identifiable moments where you go "That guy's quitting because he's a sore loser" or similar. This is especially true in the versus modes on Xbox Live.

I had a guy quit twice in a row on the last note because he was losing and didn't want to disrupt his streak (achievement seeker, in other words). I sent him a nastygram about it, and he fessed up that that's exactly what he was doing. At first blush, I'd put somebody like that on a list in a heartbeat.

But I bet he has the achievements now, and I'd be kind of surprised if he plays the same way.

Should we consider achievement-seeking behavior separately from regular online play, maybe? Once you get the duel and tug-of-war achievements, the only online achievement left is "Riding on Coattails," and that's hardly competitive.

true... yeah on the coattails i never really knew of it, or tried for it until I randomly got it when a platinum kid played against me online...

I think the one point that brings up is that perhaps in the future, the achievements will be more reluctant to include these sort of streak achievements since it seems to promote quitters on most of the online games that include them.....

That "Quitters List" would be way too long. I could see having a blacklist for people who quit too often during the song, but I don't see a problem with quitting before or after a song comes up. Sometimes other things come up and I have to bolt.

I'll never quit deliberately mid-song, but I will often quit during song selection if:

a) I see zero DLC available, and/or
b) The song selected is one I have already sung at least once that day, and/or
c) The song is Maps :p

Yea, I'm a bit of a DLC snob, but sheesh, those 58 songs get ooooold to sing over and over again, especially when most people pick from the same set of 10 repeatedly. :)

I have had quite a few people quit on me. Seems like they don't like the song I selected. I have PS3. Since no voice is supported, is there a stanard way people try to tell you they don't like the song? Maybe I would have less people quit. Thanks.

What good would it do exactly? When you're playing ranked matches, the system decides who to pair you up with anyway.

So, you go to the effort of logging quitters, and looking them up, and you get paired with one... now what?

on the eks-bawx you can add em to your friends, submit an "avoid this player" and then delete them. Then they will less often come up. A hassle, but for those who care, i guess its worth it.

That, or you can report us for tampering until our usernames get banned. Us quiters would be mad though.
