View Full Version : If Rock Band was made in Japan...what setlist would YOU have?

Actually, I'm serious here. Rock Band seems to be concentrating on US tracks, but the rest of the world can rock, too...:)

And since Japan usually puts more than Japanese J-Rock on their lists, usually they go...global.:)

So, post your global J-Rock Band setlists!
Rules: anything other than American English-languagerock. I even gave you a loophole here!
Names of songs could be translated for easier understanding if you so wish.

Mine?
God Knows...by Hirano Aya (The J-Rock Anthem)
God Knows...~Ver Haruhigurashi~ by Nakae Kouki (A remix of the J-Rock Anthem)
Lost My Music by Hirano Aya (what CAN'T she do?)
Dragostei Din Tei by O-Zone (Not exactly rock, but fun to perform nonetheless. Aka the "Numa Numa" song.)
Emerald Sword by Rhapsody (Good luck NOT breaking your controllers on this killer.)(This is English Language from Europe)
INNOCENT SORROW by abingdon boys school (yes, it's the D.Grey-Man OP. Get over it)
WINDER ~Boku Wa Koko ni Iru~ by Shonen Kamikaze (awesome rock song)
D-tecnolife by UVERworld (Duh, fun to play, sounds awesome, it's in)
GO!!! by Flow (Obvious choice)
Tsubasa Wa Pleasure Line by Minami Kuribayashi (Easy, this. Not many songs have 3~5 guitars playing with a bunch of other stuff. Not exactly rock, but it's fun as hell to play)
Chain by Back-on (Duh. Let's see some stream note, shall we?)
Riraito by Asain Kung Fu Gneration (Song's translation: Rewrite. Wonder where we've heard this before...)
Ride on Shooting Star by The Pillows (Actually, anything by The Pillows would work. They're more METAL )
Little Busters by The Pillows (rocks so hard they get two)
Hey Jimmy! by HAV (might have the artist wrong on this one)
Kizuna by Ayane (EGuitar rocks this one HARD)
Super Shooter by Rip Slyme (Props to the person on Keyboard)
Viva Rock by ORANGE RANGE (^_^)
BOMB A HEAD by MC A.T. (Might have the artist wrong on this one)
Daia no Hana by Yoriko (Good luck with the final leadout)
Hit In The USA by Beat Crusaders (This should be in regular Rock Band, it's so relevent)
Kir Royale by Scudelia Electro (Punk/Thrash rock, no less >_>)
Ichirin no Hana by High and Mighty Color (Thrash stuff for everyone)
Lost Heaven bu L'Arc~en~Ciel (...)
Motteke! Sailor Fuku by Hirano Aya & Cast (Not exactly rock, but a blast. taking over the internet...)
Melissa by Porno Grafitti (Ignore the name, revel in it's Pop/Rock fusion)
No Boy, No Cry by Stance Punks (eh, added it for the hell of it)
Tell me why by PENPALS (For the slow rock)
Vivid by Fairy Force(I pity the guitarist)
One Winged Angel by Nobou Uematsu (HAH, LATIN! So it's a game character...)

Why anything Diasuke Ishiwatari (The GOD of the guitars. Don't believe me? play Guilty Gear. You'll see.) isn't on this list is because there are no vocals, and they are better suited for something like GH.
Also, there are a lot of female leads on this list. Why? Something tells me that songs in rock band are going to be in majority of Male leads, for the sake of marketing. This is it's counterpoint. And I'm a guy >_>
All I could think off, which isn't even a fraction of what's out there.
yeah, most of these were Anime stuff, so disversify this list some by posting your own!
*props to those who can get every anime I mentioned*

Sorry, could you clarify exactly what you're angling at here? "American" and "English-language" are not synonyms. Do you want non-american suggestions, or non-english language suggestions? Rush or Rammstein?

Aural Vampire, totally. I want their song Darkwave Surfer, especially, to be on the game. But I also love Economical Animal Superstar, Vampire Extacy, and Preservative Woman. Basically, I love most of their stuff.

Half the stuff on there is by boyband types like Orange range, or simply anime themes.

If we're talking about the total Rock Band experience, taking into account all the announced instruments

1) This thread was done already.

2) You have a lot of "whine non-rock" on your list.

3) Bomb a Head is quite possibly the worst song in the history of all J-Pop.

Well, what I meant that it couldn't be American, English-language. if it was made in America, and English-language, then it couldn't fit.

And I know that some of my songs suck, but that's what OTHER LISTS are for. Not like there's actually going to be a J-Rock Band.

And where would this other topic be?

And add stuff by Nightmare. If that isn't some form of rock I don't know what is.

So by your criteria, songs by these artists belong on your list as none of them are american, yes?

Rush
Led Zep
Def Leppard
Iron Maiden
Motorhead
Black Sabbath
Rainbow
Deep Purple
Judas Priest
Rolling Stones
Uriah Heep
Saxon
The Police
The Clash

The real lesson here should be that if game was made in Japan, it would probably have better american metal songs on it then it would being made here Truth.

I'd agree with One Winged Angel if it were the Advent version. Also pretty much anything by hide(especially Pink Spider), Gackt, Malice Mizer, X Japan, Dir en Grey, Phantasmagoria, and Moi Dix Mois should be on there.

That would be here.

I then got my list half-right then :P
And you noticed the giant loophole! Left it there for a reason :P

As for the topic, this discussion is GLOBAL. My list just had a majority of Japanese bands, is all.

and Ditto for Dir en Grey :P

EDIT:
What's Up, People?! by Maximum the Hormone (It certainly isn't J-Pop)

And most anime themes aren't made for the anime :P they're picked up during the process by query of bands. Which means they're actual songs, believe it or not -_-

And Emerald Sword needs to be listened to to be believed. Youtube it :P

EDIT2: and by some of the logic on this board, Folk Rock, Soft Rock, and Pop Punk (which IS rock, believe it or not, at least according to the wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music).) Can't belong in this game :P But that's another discussion.

I'd definately agree w/ the Beat Crusaders being apart of some DLC.
'Hit In The USA' would make the most sense as BECK is on MTV currently, but I'm really digging their album EPopMAKING right now.

How 'bout some F.I.D. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_VQO48AmZc)? (Band Website (http://www.geocities.jp/inthedilapidation/))

But yes, I wouldn't mind an Electric Eel Shock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8mzp9fmub4) song or two in Rock Band.

A. Thanks for stealing my post.

B. Nice set of anime music sprinkled with majorly known J-Rock Songs.

C. Um.... I'm not trying to flame but its hard not too.

All in all, a Japan DLC could be feasible. The Pillows, L'arc en Ciel, and a few other J-Rock bands have either toured in America (The pillows concert in NY both years was GREAT!) or done anime-cons. If people push for it, petition for it, or write more about it its feasible.

Its not like Japanese bands such as the Pillows (I know I'm stuck using them as a reference but their great) are going to ask for say Beatles or Led Zeppelin amount of royalties.

If their concert cost less than a family meal at Popeye's ($13 for a Pillows concert), I doubt they would ask for astronomical amounts of money so that Harmonix can place their songs in the game. Seeing that the "World Tour" career mode may bring us to Japan why not give us J-ROCK!

Again, great topic.... and all we can do is hope for some J-Rock.

Some Japanese bands may be truly metal, but most of the bands suggested for RB in this thread are commercial/anime music. C'mon, these kids are asking for the motherlovin' Naruto theme song.

In all seriousness, though, J-Rock has a pretty good chance of appearing as DLC in RB. I think. If the game releases in Japan, it's bound to include some localized content. After putting all that work into licensing the songs, it'd seem crazy for Harmonix not to offer it as DLC here in the states, provided demand for the music is high enough.
