View Full Version : Rock Band 2 and RB 1 DLC
sorry, but I have been out of the loop recently. I was wondering if HMX has said anything in regards to RB 2 beign combatable with RB1 dlc. It would be such a pain to have to switch disks in the middle of a party.
Thanks

I'm pretty sure they havn't. They don't really tend to shed any light on a lot of popular subjects like this. Ever. :(

They have actually. Last word was that they were planning to keep RB1 DLC compatible with RB2. And why not? They can still bill Rock Band as a platform...anybody can join at any time and then purchase previous/future versions (provided it's the same console) and supplement with DLC.

All will be revealed in a few short weeks.

That is great news. Is there a source? Thanks

From IGN article "Rock Band DLC goes Multi-Platinum:"
With so many songs available, it puts into question the validity of even releasing a sequel. DeGooyer acknowledged the dilemma, stating that the proliferation of downloadable content "changes the approach [for a sequel] from one that's purely about new music to one that's about new features." That suggests that if/when there is a sequel to Rock Band, previously downloaded content may carry over.
In an interview with EGM when asked about DLC compatibility, Greg LoPiccolo said:
"Our conception [of the DLC program] is as a platform. And the conception of a platform that makes sense is that you don't buy all your new CDs every year. We totally hear you on that. "
Couldn't find anything else. However, we're only a month away from solid answers as to whether or not a Rock Band sequel is really coming this year. Just wait for E3.

Even if nothing is set in stone, it's pretty much a no-brainer. Everything they have ever said about the game in interviews etc. say that they know it has got to happen.
And yes, about 4 weeks from now we'll know everything we ever wanted to know about Rock Band. MTV Games has a big ole' booth, and Activision isn't even going to be there. E3, kids, E3.

It's in their best interest, as long as they can pull it off.

Nothing has been officially announced. I am hoping, like others, they will announce something at E3.
