No connection with my wired guitar

When I plug my guitar in, the 360 does not recognize it. I have tried plugging it into both the USB hub and the 360 itself. The little green lights do not come on.
I'm out of warranty (nice customer relations EA with your new "policy"), so I'm contemplating opening the guitar up to see if it's just a loose cord or something that I can fix easily. If anyone has experienced a similar problem or knows of a fix, please let me know.

Be sure to check the cable -- there is a small "breakaway" connector in the cable, about a foot away from the end of the cable. Mine came loose one day -- it was still attached, but not making full contact and the guitar wouldn't work. I hope this helps!
