Just had a look at the achivment list for the 360 version of Rock Band. Just a quick question but isnt it against Microsoft policy to make people buy stuff for achivments because you are forcing people to buy all the equipment if they want to 100% the game also why no multiplayer achivments.

personaly i already have the guitar and will be buying the drums but i dont want to F'ing sing at a TV screen.

If it were against Microsoft policy to make you buy stuff for achievements, all 360 games would be free.

1. I don't see any achievements that require you to purchase anything? However, if there is, it is obvious that you will purchase the equipment with the money you earn through the career (not Microsoft Points).

2. There are several multiplayer achievements? The Band World Tour has several achievements, as well as ranked matches of Head to Head and Tug of War?

Ever played GH? You'll notice you can use a standard controller in place of an instrument. I'd imagine this will be the same. So no need to buy extra equipment.

Have fun playing the drums on the controller safe in the knowledge you haven't had to spend any extra money ;-)

They are just there to add gameplay value, they are pointless, no one said you had to earn them.

Also in response to the first post, there are many achievements directed at multiplayers. All the ones that mention World Tour Mode have to do with playing with multiple people, as well as any of the online achievements that you must win, the ranked tug of war etc...
I think the achievements are pretty well done, none of them are over the top, and they all make sense. There is also 50 of them, so they add a lot to do.

how about the achivments for the vocal carrer dont they require you to buy the microphone ?

* Howler - Finish Vocal Solo Tour on Easy - 20 Points
* Screamer - Finish Vocal Solo Tour on Medium - 30 Points
* Crooner - Finish Vocal Solo Tour on Hard - 40 Points
* Virtuoso - Finish Vocal Solo Tour on Expert - 50 Points
* Flawless Singing - Score a 100% rating as a vocalist on Expert - 10 Points

unless you can use your 360 headset ?

like i said i will be buying the drum kit because i like the drums. I already have the guitar from GH2 so no need to buy that.

Ah ha! Can't you use the headset?

Whats the big deal. Isn't the bundle the only thing available at launch? Besides its going to cost you more in the long run to purchase it all individually. Why not go with the complete set?

Sell the microphone on eBay. Individual instruments won't be available until 2008, I'm sure you'll sell it for at least $50 to some fool.

You can use any headset you want. Just say pop or make another sharp noise when it's time to "hit" the microphone.

Actually it's not the first time that you've needed to buy peripherals for achievements. I recall a game where there's an achievement tied to owning and using their little webcam add-on. Plus there are boatloads of achievements that require online play or download content expansions.

To say that it is somehow violating some sort of sacred Microsoft code is overblown at best. Plus, they're just achievement points which are just excess fluff.

Besides, show me in actual print and quote from M$ saying it's against their policy or whatever. If anything, you'd think they want you to shell out the dough.

Besides, show me in actual print and quote from M$ saying it's against their policy or whatever.

When Microsoft raised their cap from 1000 to 1250 per game, the extra 250 points were reserved for paid DLC. So you couldn't require paid DLC in the first 1000 points, but you could release additional achievements totalling 250 points for paid DLC.

This means, for example, that Rock Band could in fact release additional achievements later on tied into downloadable albums.

But this policy has never applied to peripherals, XBox Live subscriptions fees, or anything else but DLC. The original poster is confused.

Hey, there is nothing wrong with playing RB by yourself.

It's just usually more fun to have a full band. Or in my case, a full imaginary band. By myself.

Of course not, because that gives you the greatest chance to use the "I'm playing with myself" comment when someone asks you what you're doing.

I didn't mean it like that! I'll be starting solo as well. It's just that I fail to see the point of buying a game called Rock Band if you don't intend to play as a band at some stage!

Also, given the efforts of HMX with vocals, drums and guitar, it seems a sin to completely ignore parts of the gameplay. I've never played the drums in my life and can't wait to have a go!

Thanks for clarifying Zen.

And also, yes the OP has the wrong idea about the game. Just like another thread where a kid was complaining =

"I better knot b able 2 5-star evry song teh 1st time, coz all i wana play iz geetar"

I explained that this game is Rock BAND, not Rock Hero or something. It's all about a band (consisting of multiple players) i.e. a game focused on multiplayer!!
Also, single player is only there because it has to be. Not because it's a one-player game.

:D

Hey, some "bands" are only one artist!

True, but he usually plays multiple instruments, even if it's just guitar and vocals. I also don't usually consider a guy playing guitar to be a "band".

As long as you, at some point, go online and do Band World tour, I don't care if you only play one instrument. Not like I really care what you do otherwise...

Back to the OP:
Achievements, who cares if you don't get a few? Seriously.

I'm just glad the World Tour Mode is online, that kicks GH2's no co-op online right in the nuts. Also means I don't need my friends over all the time to get acheivements. Or have to worry about their sucky playing lol
