The list yesterday was indeed missing one, there are 50 for 1000 points total. Good to see it confirmed in a more official capacity.

I doubt this is the Day 4 update. They had a planned article for today, and this is only Harmonix passing on some information because it just got leaked.
Now if they would confirm what an Endless Setlist is, that would be a good Day 4 update.

True, they do make it sound like they just received it and put it up. It probably isn't the article for today. We'll see, if there is another article it will probably be up later on tonight like it has been the last two days.

maybe this is the real article for today, about singing and a video for cherub rock?

haha. I don't even know what to say, lol. Good thing my anticipation for this RB Week has peaked and I'm not looking forward to any IGN "coverage" anymore. Just a nice little news piece when they finally release it. Ugh. I liked the fake Day 4 coverage better :P

I agree. Yesterday's GameSpot article got me excited enough. Unless IGN pulls something amazing out tomorrow, I deem this "week of coverage" a complete failure.

Anyone else notice this about the achievements?
* Platinum Artist - Finish the Endless Setlist in Band World Tour at Expert (25pts)
To become a Platinum Artist you have to finish the Endless Setlist (whatever that is) in Band World Tour on Expert.
* Riding on Coattails - Play with a "Platinum Artist" (5pts)
To get this achievement you simply have to "play" a game/song with a "Platinum Artist". I'm assuming this one will be online only then.
Either way this is pretty cool. Maybe the end of World Tour mode is playing an Endless Setlist of every song, and if you beat it you become a Platinum Artist... then anybody you play with online after that gets the Riding on Coattails achievement.
That's pretty neat. You can see who is good, and who is just coasting along lol.

I honestly don't get the whole excitement over Achievements thing. When I first heard about XBox achievments I was like "ho hum, that's nice" but it seems like the whole gaming world except for me is totally stoked by it. I played BioShock and Forza and noticed that I was getting an achievement every once in a while, but it wasn't that big of a deal and it actually seemed more of a distraction than anything.
What am I missing? Am I just getting old and bitter, or what?

They aren't anything too special but I do like them because they add a bit of competition and value to the gameplay. To me it just makes the game that much more fun and interesting to play.

I dig this, it seems like a neat little idea. Here's my one worry. I plan on being a Platinum Artist pretty damn fast. Will this achievement become impossible to get once you already are a Platinum Artist yourself? Or if you and your 3 bandmates all unlock platinum, your very next song together unlocks Riding on Coattails?
Meh, just 5 points, but definitely caught my curiosity.

If the achievements consist of fun activities to achieve them, then it is good incentive to play the game to death. Also increases replayability for the games as well. This way you don't just play through a game and skip content. You can go back and try to unlock these and feel a sense of "achievement" :)

I thought about that too, but it makes sense, if you play with someone who is a Platinum Artist, even if you are one yourself, you would get the achievement of Riding on Coattails.

Well, I'm pretty old and bitter, and I like achievements. So I guess it's something else. Maybe you have cancer?
I think people get rubbed wrong by the idea or concept of achievements more then the achievements themselves. In your imagination, you see snotty brats running around trying to rub Achievements in each other's faces. Like some strange game of oneupmanship, but way more f**king nerdy. And I agree, this image is annoying and I'd want nothing to do with it.
But personally, I don't see this ever happening in real life. I've never talked to anyone about Achievements. Like, ever. I've never had anyone try to brag about them either. So for me, they end up just being weird little mini-goals that flesh out certain games beyond what I would normally get out of them. I'm still working on Guitar Hero 2 achievements, and it's actually been a strangely satisfying experience. Every time I get one of the harder ones, it's just a little burst of excitement. And I certainly don't go around rubbing it in anyone's face. Unlocking the guitars in that game were a similiar experience. They make you feel good, and that's it.
I guess it's how you approach it. Well, that and if you meet someone who's actually enough of a douche to try to treat them like some stupid boyscout badge of honor. The day I see someone wearing a Halo 3 achievement patch on their real life clothing is the day I start hating 360 Achievements.

Ditto. I don't get it either. I have a friend who was like #3 in the world in points back in the beginning and he'll play any crappy game he can get his hands on for achievements. He'll even skip buying PC versions of stuff if the X360 is getting it so he can score achievements.
Whatever.

I think achievements are cool when they encourage you to do stuff you wouldn't normally do. Like that one in GH3 where you have to whammy every long note in Number of the Beast; that's a pretty cool idea.

Maybe I'm just old-school, but am I the only one who just likes inferring your own accomplishments from games? Like unlocking all the cheats in GoldenEye or 5-starring all the songs on Expert in a PS2 Guitar Hero game. They're all rewarded in-game, and it's not like earning some arbitrary number of "Achievement points" really means anything to me. I don't get why Microsoft has to step into games and require these things from developers when I've found that games do a fine job of making players feel accomplished all by themselves.

Interesting to note that Japan is considered a city..........why is that? All the other achievements (and assumedly, the hometowns) are cities, yet theres Japan (a whole country might I point out).
