View Full Version : Unbelievable. No Detroit venue?

Music was made in Michigan. Well, not literally of course, but with all the history. What posessed Harmonix to include what seems to be 20 cities, some of which seem completely random, and exclude Detroit? Just because it was seen in Guitar Hero II? Still. Laaaame!

Maybe it was a liscensing issue. Like, the city of Detroit didn't want their name tarnished by a Video Game.

Oo, even better, maybe Detroit killed Alex Rigopulos's parents.

We may never know the truth...

Alice Cooper and The Stooges are from Detroit and they've both been in GH. There was a detroit venue in GH2, a song titled "Detroit Rock City" and still they refuse to come to Detroit. More like "Un-Rock Band" if you ask me. Every rock band knows you gotta play Detroit, way to go posers.

You think you're sad that your hometown didn't make it in as one of the 17 cities? I had to say goodbye to Brisbane too!

They said something about Brisvegas not being on the same scale of rock importance as "London" or "Seattle" when we were in the meetings, but we all know it's a secret conspiracy against bands like Custard and Regurgitator.

I'm disappointed Nebraska didn't make the cut myself. :(

The venue could have been a corn field with cows grazing in the audience. For the encore they could have had a good ol' fashioned barn raising.

It is possible. ;)

Just like Canada has all its stereotypes, so does the midwest. I've grown up in a city of nearly a million people and don't know beans about farming, cattle, and all the other stereotypical midwestern concepts.

Well, I am guessing that for the facilities they did pick, they have to travel to them, take pictures and stuff so they can design it for the game.

So my guess is once they got to Detroit, the changed their minds and went home. Or, they were mugged at gun point and forced to leave because they had no money.

:D :p :D

Last I heard there was no Nashville or Memphis either. Given the fact that both of those are huge music cities. Hell graceland is in tennessee I figured it was a shoe in. Apparently not even the king of rock and roll will sway harmonix hard hearts. ;)

I also need to state that Detroit gets far too many stereotypes. Sure Detroit isn't a city where you want to be on the streets at 3am, but that goes for most populated cities. FLINT is where you don't want to go - ever - for any reason. Get your facts straight.

not quite

Avalanche > Red Wings

Roy pwned Vernon and Osgood fighting (took a cheap clothesline cheapshot from Shanny to soften Roy up for the Osgood fight to make it even close) Hell, Hasek was too afraid of Roy to fight him.

Our 19 was and is better than yours. Sakic wayyyyy better than Yzerman.

The rivalry isnt what it once was, but loved it while it lasted.

I don't watch much/any hockey, but I played a lot of NHL 98 on PS1, and let me tell you, the Kariya/Selanne combo was unstoppable. Throw Hebert in goal, and I had the Ducks winning 82 games a season.

NHL 97 was where it was at.

Even so... if sports games are any indication... the Lions will beat the Patriots in this years Super Bowl.

Final Score: 308 to 7

i know i feel terrible. i totally didnt mean it.

funny part is, it went from detroit vs colorado rivalry to a walk down memory lane on old nhl games. how did gameday have anything to do with it? lol.

to the OP, im sorry it was supposed to be a silly off the cuff slight, and it became "a thing". it was purely unintentional.

I don't care. I'm not "ew hockey". I think it's pretty funny that if you step outside of Michigan to watch a hockey game, unless it's in Canada, no one even likes the sport.

Many, many, many people I know (and cities I can think of) would beg to differ.

Edit: Not to mention, the people from those cities haven't had to watch their team dominate the regular season only to continually choke in the playoffs with rare exceptions.

Hmm..I'm pretty sure Boston is outside of Michigan. There is Boston College, Boston University, Harvard, NorthEastern. The Beanpot. Also even though the franchise is floundering at the bottom of the toilet there is still an unusual amount of love for the Boston Bruins.
