That Rock, Blues and Folk are a sort of musical trifecta? A lot of genres overlap a little here and there, but I notice it in these three genres specifically, which is why certain folk artists (Dylan, The Dead, Buffalo Springfield) considered part of the greater "rock" family (I consider the dead folk-rock), and why so many guitarists/bassists (Slash, Johnny/Flee from RHCP, Hendrix, Kravits, etc) use a lot of bluesy sounds in their songs, with B.B. King having a certain level of "Rock Legend" staus even though he's a blues man?
I'd throw Country in there too, because that's obviously where we get a lot of Southern rock... but then I couldn't use a cool word like 'trifecta' :P

But, if you were to include it you could use an even cooler word like "Superfecta"....which is used at the dog races for picking the top 4 pooches.

Alright then, it's a Superfecta between Rock, Blues, Country and Folk!
Not sure where I was expecting the conversation to go... :P
Judging from the lack of responses, I guess everyone agrees.

You could hear it a lot in those early hard rock bands like Thin Lizzy with baby drives me crazy to a lesser extent in a lot of their other songs. Its less prominent in a lot of those generic classic rock songs but still the blues is where rock all started.
Heres a great example of some hard rock blues
