James Hetfield and Bruce Dickenson... but seeing as i only have one choice i picked Hetfield..even though bruce is tied with him for number 1 in my book;)

For some reason, James Hetfield's vocals just seem cheesy to me. Too fake. I chose Axl. He's really raw. His voice burnt out, but what he did with it was great.

Hetfields voice is grotesquely overrated. No love for Ronny Dio?

Bruce's voice is pure magic. He is most certainly a legend of metal.

I second both of these! I'm also wondering where Ian Curtis of Joy Division and Glenn Danzig of Danzig and The Misfits are. I don't think you can edit polls, but it might be possible to add an 'Other' option. :)

Out of the vocalists listed, I selected Taime Downe of Faster Pussycat. His voice was (not sure if he can sing so well anymore...) a perfect mix of rasp and sarcasm.

From that list it would be Se*****ian Bach. I'd put Dickinson and Dee Snider close seconds and thirds. As big of an ass as he is no one on that list can touch *****boy for his range or power and he could pull it off live and didn't need studio tricks to sound great.

Bruce "The Air Raid Siren" Dickinson is a legend and Dee is one of the most under rated singers and front men from an under rated band ever. And he's a class act! One of the coolest, nicest motherf***rs on the planet.

Vince Meal is a horrible singer! One of the worst. He's all studio. Axl was either great or Godawful live, never just ok. Blackie and Pearcy are also regarded as two of the worst singers of that decade. Ozzy has a very unique tonality to his voice. I don't mind Hetfield or Taime.

Taime had a great voice. I really am not that huge of a fan of Bruce.

Yeah the original list was pretty slanted to metal.

Might be nice to have a different version for non-metal to include some of those mentioned: Steve Perry, Morrissey, Hutchence, plus a variety of others: Cyndi Lauper, Martha Davis (of the Motels), Prince, and some others that will undoubtedly cause a lot of controversy -- Bono, Sting, Springsteen.

Also -- what do you do about some of the greats who were continuing to work in the 80s, for example Freddie Mercury (altho' his best was probably behind him at that point) or Steve Winwood who had a major career revitalization during the 80's. And remember Roy Orbison was active with the Traveling Wilburys at the end of the 80s.

Sorry, horrible poll options unless this is meant to be hard rock/metal/hair bands only.

I'm putting in votes for Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü), Peter Murphy (Bauhaus/Dali's Car/solo) and Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke).
