Battle of the Bands!

A couple of weeks ago, Harmonix approached ScoreHero to help organize a press event for their upcoming title, Rock Band. ScoreHero gladly accepted the offer, and Phr34k took on the challenge of creating the tournament format for the event. The end result was a fantastic tournament format that showcases the various game modes that will be in Rock Band. This event will take place over the next couple of weeks, leading up to Rock Band's release in late November of this year. The participants in this event will be none other than 10 complete bands (4 members each), derived from the top 10 video game review sites:
? GameSpot
? IGN
? GameSpy
? Team Xbox
? GamePro Online
? 1up
? GamesRadar
? GameTrailers
? AOL
? Yahoo
ScoreHero will be providing per round updates on the event and how the 'bands' are progressing, and each website has the opportunity to release articles based on their experience with the game and tournament. The event will start early next week with Round 1, and will continue towards the finals in mid-November. Which band will emerge victorious? Stay tuned to find out!

What do you guys think? I'm only assuming that IGN's team is the Ignorant Sluts..?
And why does AOL have a team? They should've given that spot to Kotaku or something.

I think this would probably be better fit for the Rock Band forum. Seems relevant enough. Sounds like a really awesome idea, by the way. A great way to get press coverage.

Exactly. This means more coverage and vids from all of these sites. I hope.
And I was going to post it there, but I wasn't sure if I should, since it has ScoreHero in the name. :)
But yeah, Apples, move this if you think it should go there.

Pretty cool idea, I wonder what type of coverage we are going to get. Think we'll get any gameplay videos out of it? I hope so.
I wonder who will win, I don't even know if any of the game sites have good bands. Too bad Harmonix doesn't get to be in it, I assume their band would easily win though.

The only gaming band I know of is IGN's. And they.. suck.

This is an awesome idea. It's entertainment to watch and it involves the major fan sites and games publications. (smart move to generate coverage) I feel the need to promote this thread up to the Rock Band forum for maximum viewage.
My money is on gamespy with Sluggo anchoring that team. :D

GameSpot's vocalist did a decent Bon Jovi. Ignorant Slut just suck (note: irony). GameTrailers has a good guitarist and drummer but their vocalist turns everything he sings into a Dethklok-esque experience with his annoying voice.
I want Destructoid and Kotaku in on this! DToid FTW!

If AOL wins it I'll eat my hat.

last I checked the drummer on game trailers sucks eggs. I don't even think he can play above medium, unless i'm thinking of a different drummer.

This is an absolutely great idea. Honestly, I know I'm a big HMX fanboy, but has this company done anything wrong since Rock Band has been announced? They're handling the PR and marketing of this title like absolute champs.
I'm an IGN Insider, so I suppose I should root for them, but I absolutely can't stand them. I'm just gonna remain neutral and read/salivate over all the great buzz that's sure to arise from this event.

I vote for GameSpy. They've got Sluggo on guitar, and he 5*s BatM on expert with the guitar behind his head. The rest of the band is pretty good as well, so I think they've got it in the bag.

I'm rooting for 1up and Gamespy.

My money is on GameSpot or GameSpy. Love GameSpots vocalist in Wanted Dead or Alive. Best I've heard from a gaming site so far.
Best band to hate? Ignorant Sluts. IGN for the lose!

Here's hoping new information gets spilled through this.
Like the two finalists play best of three in the Final Encores for drums (WGFA), vocals (????) and guitar (????).
