Look, I really don't care if I get flamed for this, because if I get flamed, my suspicions of humanity will be correct.

I've seen a lot of threads here bashing pretty much the same handful of bands.

Now, I can only vouch for a handful of bands...but with the recent topic about bands crashing in the mountains (and yes, I realize there was a disclaimer)...it just makes me lose faith in people.

Seriously, how DARE you criticize a band. I mean, I can ALMOST understand it with Fall Out Boy and Dragonforce, moreso for the latter, but just because A) you have a weird preconcieved notion that everything mainstream is commercialized, or B) Or B, you don't like their sound, and think it's not innovative, then you say it sucks.

Honestly? I think thats bull. I can understand you saying it sucks, hell, i think the Beatles and Led Zeppelin suck. Does that mean they didn't do stuff for the Musical world? No, I just don't like their sound. So what, sue me, it's a free world.

But just because a band didn't make impact for good music as a whole, doesn't mean that they suck. Not everyone tries to do that. Some bands use music as an outlet, just to get their anger out. And you know what? People connect with that! I CONNECT with that.

Frankly, it doesn't really matter to me whether you like My Chemical Romance or Linkin Park...I can connect with a lot of their songs.

But it's damn bad if this is what the world is coming to. Where EVERYTHING and EVERYONE is criticized just for their tastes in something.

I don't think I've ever gone into these forums, or any conversation, talking about how much a band sucks. Not because I'm trying to be polite, but I just really don't spend much of my time THINKING about what bands I don't like, only about the ones I do. I don't have any bands that I hate, but plenty that I love, and I think that's a healthy way to go about it. I see threads like "What 5 bands do you wish would break up?" and I honestly have no answer, and find it a waste of people's time. A better question is what 5 bands you wish would get back together. We shouldn't be promoting the downfall or any band, just raising the good ones up.

Now, that doesn't mean I can't make fun of a band or type of music... I've certainly been on a streak of pointing out how ridiculous extreme metal can be recently, lol.

I think it has less to do with people's opinions and more to do with how it's expressed. I would much rather read something along the lines of "not my cup of tea" to "those guys suck" any day.

There's nothing wrong with pointing out the flaws in a song, or in an artist's approach to making music. That sort of scrutiny comes with the territory of making music publicly.

ok...i realize my wording in my first post was a little wrong. it's not so much the saying "they suck part,", it's that there's a constant hate of bands such as LP and MCR here. generally, it comes with bashing too. I'm fine with people saying it sucks, although it irritates me, but it there's times when I just can't take it, when someone bashes on them.

and those are the two bands out of 2000 that i really listen to, the rest is pre-2000.

Presently, the french band that has the best lyrics, in my opinion, is a rap band called Loco Locass. And it IS poetry. I'm not stupid btw, I know enough poetry to see that they are playing with the words' sound like no rock band has ever done. I don't know the english words for the figures of speech they use, but believe me, their texts are very complex.
Most rap bands that we hear on radio have violent and sexist lyrics but there's no need to generalize.

I have a few bands i dislike harshly, but its mostly either for lyrical content and member personalities than actual musical quality.
